Just found this on the Goodwood website, apparently the full programme went out this morning on ITV4...make sure you play it to the very end

Mornington Crescent.
I think more like Carcoat Damphands.

Lovely stuff.
What's the little blue badge Jackie's wearing just above where his name is?

It is a blue enamelled badge, shaped as a lower case "n" with a long descender or leg to the right. 20mm by 30mm, or so.
JYS wore a pale blue racing suit for the appearance -- JYS picked that suit out of his wardrobe for a reason

Some stochastic scene setting snaps:

Luvverly stuff. Were these with the F?

I think so, I also had a Canon Powershot in case I ran out of battery. Would that I had the patience/budget/ability to handle something that can change the lens.
Here are a few others, more focussed on the machinery.
^ Stanguellini Delfino, with sharknose
^ very pointy Mk IV Gemini
^ Lynx T3, another oddly proportioned FJ; that nose looks much too long
^ Chris Goodwin's dayglo helmet always stands out. Lotus 22
^ the unraced Walker-Climax. I wonder how good it actually was?
^ Scarab Mk 1. Serious car porn
Spot the difference:
^ McLaren M1A...
...and M1B.
^ Bloodlines of greatness: Lotus Mk 6.
^ cartoonish Lagonda V12
^ rare treat: JBW-Maserati. As a kid, I would see references to JBW in the stats books (e.g. Guinness Guide to Grand Prix Motor Racing), but none of the encyclopaedias had any info on this at all. So it's always a delight to see it in the flesh
^ very fast Hamill SR3
^ an expiring Hagermann-Sutton, of which I know nothing
^ same applies to the Fred Davies Special. With a name like that I expected it to cannon off a red car
^ a legend in a legend; Derek Bell in the Eagle
^ "when I grow up, Daddy, I want to be like you." Austin J40 with Jowett Javelin
Incidentally, one of the events at G-wood is the Settrington Cup, for kids in J40s. I love that the results service has the full beans on the race, and you can see it here - with things like distance and track conditions. Must be a thrill to see your name on the timesheets along with the greats in the other races.
One to watch is the boy who came 25th, Stirling O'Connor, who was interviewed before the first heat. When pressed on his tactics, he said that he was going to "get in and pedal like hell". Proper racer.

I wonder why the JBW-Maserati has mismatched wheels.
Possibly for the same reason Moss occasionally had mismatched wheels on his Vanwall, he prefered the feel of wire wheels at the steering end...

Talking of mismatched wheels, it was a joy to see the Moss Monza Cooper on rear wires, which he ran at the 59 Gold Cup also, a week later, -there have been a couple of photos of it in e Bay a while back at Oulton, and I always think that the Trintignant Monaco Cooper on full wires, also in the RRCW tribute, makes the car look so much more aesthetically pleasing, and a nice one off. Probably just me being an old fogey.
I believe Brooks also favoured wires on the front of the Vanwall, something to do with flex reducing understeer, I may be wrong, and it is either in one of the books or recalled in a track test by Alain de Cadanet years ago.
One of our experts will no doubt check and clarify.
Roger Lund
I think it was Lewis-Evans, at Zandvoort who first tried wire wheels on the front and alloys on the back. All Vanwalls had alloys front and rear at Monaco. Lewis-Evans began to challenge Moss' and Brooks' times so Moss had a go in his car and found it much improved. Brooks then won at Spa with alloys all round. At Reims, Moss had alloys all round. By Silverstone all three cars seemed to have standardised on wire front and alloy rear.

Apologies for the delay - September / October were rather busy - I have just finished loading my photos to Flickr from the Revival (yes, i know, it was two months ago !).
There are separate albums for each race - some are larger than others and my love of big noisy GTs is reflected in the TT album. No warranty offered for how many of the cars are original specification but they do make a superb sight and sound into Madgwick !
There are other albums you may also wish to peruse from our travels.

Excellent David, thank-you for sharing, especially the WHT albums
