Last year one of the most enjoyable events I attended was the VSCC Lakeland Trial, which was held at Honister Pass (and elsewhere) . Low speed but delightful . My problem this year is that I know it takes place on 10 November but that is all as the VSCC website is members only. Spectators were made very welcome last year so it isn't a restricted access thing - can anyone help with detail please?

Any VSCC members on here ?

Have just checked - website says only spectator hill will be Drumhouse.
Guess all other place are restricted, since the area is now a World Heritage Site.
Event HQ is The Wheatsheaf Inn at Low Lorton.
Hope that helps.

The VSCC appear to fail to appreciate that their elitist "closed door" policy is costing them potential members.

But in the flesh I have found VSCC events to be one of the most welcoming and inclusive I've ever attended. Last year more than one person asked me to passenger in their car at the trial . Only my bad back prevented me from doing so .
Before going to my first VSCC meeting I expected a bunch of braying old hoorays and the odd scowling WB character but the reality is that they are all ages , a wide range of social classes and all bloody bonkers . I couldn't like them more.

The apparent reluctance of the VSCC to offer event info might just be a website glitch for that particular item - other events listed there have linked info, including some basic details for spectators (rather than directing you to the members/signing-up notice).

Bradbury West - I was converted to VSCC stuff in the early Nineties. Arriving at Cadwell paddock I encountered a Type 35 Bugatti being warmed up and between the 'wap wap waps ' of a supercharged eight the owner looked up , beamed and uttered a cheery 'good morning'. You don't get that from Jason Plato now do you ?
As for Goodwood - I adore the circuit, cars , access and attention to detail as much as I loathe the pantomime elements and phalanxes of braying hoorays in their trademark pink and red trousers.. But I am from Yorkshire, so my inner class warrior gets twitchy that far South . I'm at the Members Meeting again next Spring . .

The same sort of thing from an ERA owner who was polishing the car at one of the Donington meetings when I was taking a photo: "Ooh, was I in your way?"
Or the driver who told me to tidy her hair up for a group photo shoot. [Nearest person with clean hands.]
Always carry a spare biro and paper -- somebody will look straight at you and pat hands on the chest. "I've left my notebook in the car but..."
Try some classic and vintage bike meetings, John, for paddock lectures.
