Yvan Muller's interview about Catsburg was classic.
I adore Yvan. Spiteful Yvan, even more.

Well, no one is happy about Hyundai right now to begin with.
Quite the mess.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 10:52
If race control is not following what is written in the rulebook and Guerrieri ends miraculously winning this...
Posted 15 December 2019 - 10:58
This surely cannot stand man... I mean if we start after sector 2, Catsburg will restart 6th. And he's the cause of all this carnage.
Godlike job by the mechanics, though.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:03
We just got a Ed Jones mention. 'the great Emirati driver' LOL
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:05
The interview with Kristofferson, Huff and Coronel was terrific. This is such a hilarious shitshow.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:09
Ok, so the restart as it is is legal according to Neil Hudson
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:16
Go Honda!
Grab that win Guerrieri
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:20
Night race woohooo
Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:21

Posted 15 December 2019 - 11:57
It's Norbi's championship to lose now
Posted 15 December 2019 - 12:00
Ok last race remaining, final showdown
Guerrieri needs win and Michelisz outside top 3 for title to Honda
And they start one beside other in first row for race 3 and final race.

Azcona takes the lead as Michelisz went full berserk on Johann K before the restart. Insanely intense stuff.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:11
Now, this is racing!
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:11
Thought I'd tune in, and I'm not regretting my decision.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:14
**** me
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:14
Shame it ended this way, but those couple of corners with all 4 of them going 110% were MONUMENTAL.

That was the best overtake I have ever seen in the final corner of Sepang - Kristofferson went full transcendental.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:37
They'll be dancing on the streets of the Hungaroring tonight!
Posted 15 December 2019 - 13:41
Gamer dude turned World Champion. Congratulations Norbi; been a pleasure to see your career grow.
This has been an amazing year for Touringcar Racing. Been a pleasure y'all but now the 2019 Motorsport season has finally ended. Cheers

Congrats to Norbi! Well deserved!

Too bad it's not an actual FIA World Championship.
It's still a World Cup and it's sanctioned by the FIA, so it kinda is though.

What do we call a World Cup winner anyway? Is there not a word for it?
i.e. What is to cup what champion is to championship?
Posted 15 December 2019 - 20:00
cupper (?)

Eh, nomenclature.
Posted 15 December 2019 - 21:03
Of course, but he won't be recognized as a World Champion alongside WRC, F1, WEC and WRX :/
Why not?
Posted 16 December 2019 - 10:00
wow trophy... bigger than him
Posted 16 December 2019 - 11:45
Why not?
Because it's not an FIA World Championship. There are just 4 championships that's recognized as that from the FIA, that F1, WRC, WRX and WEC. Formula E will join those from the next season.
WTCC lost it's status when it became WTCR in 2018.
I know it's a bit nitpicky and all that, and tbh, competition-wise WTCR 2019 would be a better choice of world championship than the last few years in WTCC. But just like the WRC-2 champion, F2 champion, FIA Cross Country champion etc. They are "just" champions, not world champions.
It's not like in motorcycle where Moto 3, Moto 2, 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP championships are all counted together.

And past FE champions now aren't world champions?
World Touring Car Cup or WTCR is like they call it World Cup. And we have Football World Cup where's winning team proclaimed World Champions.
WTCR is second to none in FIA sanctioned touring cars disciplines. And races are all around the world.

It's even weirder if you think about it, because the only criteria WTCR doesn't meet is that there are no official factory entries, because it is against the whole concept of TCR... But on the contrary, FE will become an FIA World Championship as a one make series, where even engine developments are very limited for the manufacturers, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I don't care if it's official or not when car makers helps these private teams to be faster. And VW now pulling out, and Audi also.

There are no engines in FE, if we want to get really picky.

At last, some really gripping racing from the WTCR. it has been rather bland and vanilla up to now, but I think they made up for a lot of that this weekend!
Oh, and Muller is such a hypocrite, whinging about Catsburg. A few years back he deliberately torpedoed Norby at the Slovakia Ring in the most blatant attacK since Senna took Prost out in Japan.
I tired to watch these races on Eurosport. Apart from the lead commentator* SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS VOICE THE ENTIRE TIME, whilst Matt Neal was cool and sane, they managed to miss huge chunks of racing. I recorded both the live coverage AND the highlights and still missed the Race 2 restart and laps 3-9, but Eurosport brought me the safety car laps at the end as a 'highlight' The live coverage of race 2 morphed into the Scottish Open Snooker after the red flag. useless. If it wasn't for the fact that I know that Eurosport is produced by one teenager working in his Dad's garden shed, I would be more annoyed.
* bring back Carlton Kirby! He may waffle around and get everything wrong, but at least he doesn't SHOUT THE WHOLE TIME.
