Just scanning the F3 entry list - alot of returning drivers. Are they all in F3 full-time? Is the lack of opportunities at the top keeping these guys in a holding pattern in F3?

I can't find any announcement on livestreaming, but FIA.com has a livestream page: https://www.fia.com/...rix-live-stream I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens there and at https://www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo/en/

Looking forward to this. What are the chances of Schumi Jr pulling it off? It's just a shame Hugo Hakkinen isn't in the field...

Ah, the greatest street circuit on earth. I just hope nobody gets hurt, the bikes race in particular is quite dangerous as we know, I'm staggered that one hasn't been called off yet and they keep on racing it every year.

As for the F3 race I guess I'm rooting for anyone-but-Ticktum. Imagine a future F1 duo of Verstappen-Ticktum (quite a realistic possibility!), the dislikeability levels would be off the charts.

So F3... how does this work? There's a qualifying 1, qualifying 2, a qualifying race and the the real race?

Why qualifying 1 and 2? And what does the qualifying race then do?

Each driver's fastest time from any of the two Qualifying sessions is used to determine the grid positions for the Qualifying Race. The final race positions in the Qualifying Race equals the grid positions for the Main Race.

Maybe it makes sense if you look at the 2016 results: https://en.m.wikiped...nd_Prix#Results

Thanks! Looks like qualifying 1 is really not needed for anything then? Provided you set a decent time in qualifying 2?

Yes but in a street track like Macau every minutes counts -- you never know if you can get a clean lap (not interrupted by yellow or red flag which is very common) in Q2.

Weather-wise the forecast here (Hong Kong, some 50 miles east from the race track) is mainly cloudy with a few rain patches throughout the weekend. So hopefully we will have dry races.

He was very disappointing this year. But he changed team from Carlin to Motopark ahead of Macau.

It's only him though. For some odd reason he's been driving as an "Italian" for a while. He must have Italian 2nd nationality?

The Macau News Agency and others have reported on the injuries sustained by the two motorcycle riders who had accidents in free practice. Andrew Dudgeon, who crashed at Reservoir Bend, is said to have been diagnosed with a lumbar spine fracture. Raül Torras, who crashed at Mandarin, is said to have suffered "a traumatic head injury and subarachnoid haemorrhage, frontal scalp hematoma".

I was confused by the fact that the circuit has a Sector 4 this year. I can't find a new, proper circuit map, but it looks like they have added an intermediate between Turn 11 and Turn 12.
Sector 1 is the old Sector 1,
Sector 2 is from before Lisboa to after Turn 11,
Sector 3 is from before Turn 12 to after Melco Hairpin,
Sector 4 is the old Sector 3.
