I'm looking for information on John Cobb at the 1929 Ulster TT. I know he lasted six laps before clipping a kerb, but I just need a bit more, especially pictures. Ta muchly

What!!!?? This is TNF! I was expecting colour pictures,  then and now video and four paintings within 20 seconds, is this  the subject that broke TNF? Surely not!!!

Sadly the TNF ain't what it used to be...

Do we know if Cobb's entry was a factory or a private one?

Cobb's official entrant was Victor Riley, the same as the other works cars driven by Brian Lewis and SCH Davis.

 

Anthony Blight reported (in Georges Roesch and the Invincible Talbot) that Lewis, a great friend of Cobb produced a shovel to act a shoe horn to help him squeeze into the cockpit of the Riley.

According to a WB article in Motor Sport, the impact of the crash was such that Cobb's riding mechanic lost his false teeth! Hope he didn't swallow them...

Pictures of Cobb in anything less than 10 litres, and on a course that had right AND left hand bends, seem pretty rare!!
