Jan Lammers qualified his inferiour ATS D4 on the 2nd row at the US West GP of 1980 on the streets of Long Beach, his best result ever in F1. Unfortunately he had to retire after 200 meters in the race due to a broken driveshaft.
Great driver!
A bit underrated in my view.

I've always got a soft spot for Martin in the McLaren, Ivanhoe.
Anyway, in my sequence.

They are a good match, Martin looks almost like he’s part of the car, thanks to perfectly matching helmet.

Another of my own photos... Peter Brock's 1993 fire-breathing VP Commodore thundering through the Adelaide sweeper
Peter Brock won Bathurst a total of nine times(!) between 1972 and 1987. He promoted the campaign against drink driving by using the race car number 05 from the mid-1970's onwards (related to the 0.05% blood alcohol limit in Victoria). Most cars he raced in bore this number, including the car in which he tragically lost his life.

Herbert Müller @ Targa Florio 1971, driving a Porsche 908. He shared the drive with Mexican star Pedro Rodríguez.
Note the not-too-strict safety regulations, as late as 1971. Targa Florio (one of the best races in the world) would disappear from the World Makes Championship three years later.

I don't know where this photo was taken, but it reminds me of the typical Laguna Seca Corkscrew angle.

That would be Palmer in the 018 at Suzuka. The Autobacs sponsoring gave it away.
Place on track; the first corner apex would be my guess.

Best drive ever.
