I can't go to this as it's on weekends, but Max Stahl makes it sometimes and reported back today.
This was a less-regular gathering started originally by Grahame Ward, but since his death Ian Mawdsley has become the organiser and does a good job of reminding people when it's on.
For the record, it's the first Saturday of each month at the La Piazza restaurant at Runaway Bay.
Max tells me 28 turned out on Saturday, a 'high water mark', and it happened to be John French's 88th birthday. John was unfortunately there alone as his wife died recently. Also present were Digby Cook (now 89), Bruce Richardson, baby-faced Bruce Allison, David Harding, Bob Beasley and Geoff Brabham.
Many of the regulars are Sydney people who've relocated to the Gold Coast or nearby and the discussions cover subjects of long-ago, present day affairs and I would suggest the relative health of the large number of octogenarians among the group.
Geoff Brabham is still spending several months a year in America racing, so that give cause to discuss those events. Unfortunately Max's memory is too poor these days for him to recall many of the other attendees.
January 5 is the next date if anyone wants to go.
