I'd still go for #72 or #32 - with #22 and #37 as options.
Again, I got my occult Numerology reasons.
If those fail, I'd take the #78 as I have an incredible fond memory in Nascar Cup with Truex winning in the now legendary Furniture Row Toyota.

I always remember Nicky Hayden's reasons for picking that number - (paraphrasing) "you can still identify it when my bike is upside down".
Nicky was my fav in Moto GP ... the Kentucky Kid was something special.

Honestly, I don't think that number is really all that random. I'd say you should try again ;)11

43, because it was.

25.
My grandmother's birthday was the 24th, my grandfather's birthday was the 26th, and they both raised me more or less.

#98. Because there is only one #99 - and it definitely isn't JP. (Sorry Jon! )
And the best I could possibly achieve was to become an Almost-Greg.

You're right. I did it again and Google changed its mind (gave me 70).

I ran #6 for Mark Donohue. If I ever race again it''d be #27 For Gilles.

Do all of you cringe on old posts of yours ?
I sure do!
Yes, but thankfully most of the ones that cause this to happen are long buried behind an obscure extension of the search feature I always forget how to acccess!
Also, thanks PaYR.

I don't have a number that I'm attached to, but my spirit animal is a penguin. So does anyone know a number linked with (emperor)penguins?

that's great suggestion. And what with Max moving on to #1 next year and three years beyond, when I reach F1 it'll even be available.

When I was doing online racing in NASCAR Racing 200x back in the days I used #87. I wanted to pick another number but that was gone already. I picked 87 because that the year my favorite band Operation Ivy started.
I wasnt very successful.

I remember drivers having to give three choices when they were first asked so this is the three I would have gone for.
1 - 56. There are personal reasons why I could build a branding around this number.
2 - 83. A relative did have some minor local historical significance to the village they lived in. This number is linked to them.
3 - 3. The number 3 has followed me around. Everywhere I have lived has either had a 3 in the house number or postcode.

You don’t know why I picked 99 ??
Jp
Of course I do. But I don't condone
If it was up to me the #99 would be indefinitely blocked in all motorsports series, be it real or virtual.
Posted 12 November 2021 - 11:20
If no-one's picked #1 yet, then I'll claim it
Is there any allowance for running a 07 (zero-seven), as well as a 7 on two digit numbers? What's the FIA's take on this?
I was thinking of zero as a nod to Damon, but it may clash wth the 00 of Dick Dastardly.
Does no-one else think of Nissan for #23, or just me?

Mine would be 83. It's both my birth year and the letters of my first and last name (H and C).

Sometimes I wonder how many tifosi use 2728 as a pin code for their debit card
Posted 12 November 2021 - 21:23
12. Cos of Marco Van Basten, Euro 88.
Posted 12 November 2021 - 21:39
Bruno Giacomelli drove with #23 (had to Google that ;)
This brings flasback.
I had model of this car way back in '80, I remember Motta sponzor stickers on front wing. My Dad brought it from Italy and till this day I thought it was Mclaren cos similar livery. Maybe he thought it would pass for McLaren but now after 35 plus years he's gonna get it!

I'll have number 2 if no-one else has it. Though most of the time I'd be number 1 as the world champion.

My sail number when i won the Swedish National Championship.

I'd take whatever is left. I don't really care.
As a long-time rally competitor, you ran with the number you were given. Just as God intended....

I liked 11 because they were easy to stick on or use black gaffer tape.

I liked 11 because they were easy to stick on or use black gaffer tape.
Starting out at club track days, my go-to was 61, because it was high enough to not be in excessive demand, and if unavailable I could flip it to be 19.
When I settled on 5 (because MX5) I did once or twice have to put a racer tape black 1 in front or behind it.
Racer tape, how could we live without it?

The first 2 houses I lived in happened to be 86, apart from the second one
Posted 14 November 2021 - 13:35
37
I used to be 18 but that was a popular choice. I got allocated 37 for a state championship and finished 2nd in my class, so I kept the number.
It was close to 2 x 18, plus I like prime numbers.

Interesting to see the 43s and 86s coming out - iconic to The King and Chick Hicks respectively. When I was small, MotoGP3 would give you a number that was the reverse of one of the other riders on the team you raced for. I always chose the Movistar Suzuki as I loved the colour scheme, so I ended up with 51 as Sete Gibernau was 15. I always liked the 25 but Maverick Vinales thoroughly trashed that one before he changed to the number 12 - not that it's led to an upswing in his fortunes.
