Just shifting through 40 years of my Le Mans photos and landed on this one.
Works Jags return to Le Mans after three decades and underwhelm - but they kept their promise....

Not underwhelming at all! Not a bad first effort but I must confess to going home wet and disappointed.
Just a pity that Jaguar are now wilfully denying their heritage with all that electric stuff. How can anyone get excited about an electric Jaguar?

... How can anyone get excited about an electric Jaguar?
Perhaps only by putting one's fingers across the terminals? (!) :-)

1986 Ray, I believe it says, "Thanks for coming".

Back then the Beeb used to show bits of the race live: I seem to recall that the post-race graffiti was shown as part of that. I also recall Murray Walker banging on about how the Vingt Quatre Heures was 'now' a sprint race unlike the days of yore. Fast forward 33 years and commentators are still saying it!

Thats it, 86 and TWR's first crack at the big race.
Original photo is good quality but my photo-sharing skills are not, hence blurred and cropped photo.Yes the spray on message reads "We will be back" and "Thanks for coming".
What is equally striking are the "Garage" photos from that year. Fresh out of college I was in a baby Elan with my buddy Geoff in an XK120. Just throw away old sports cars in those days...

Not quite the first TWR attempt: certainly at least one RX-7 entry prior to 1986.
