Jeff Ironside and an Indy Gerhardt in HSCC racing (?!?!)

In 2007, Bonhams sold this Gerhardt Indy car, saying it was a 1965 car:

The guy who bought it that day, still has it, and says that it was previously raced "in club racing" by "Jeff Ironside". Bonhams said that it "comes with HSCC and FIA papers", so I'm guessing it was raced in HSCC.

An Indycar in HSCC? Does this ring any bells with anyone? Presumably 1990s or early 2000s.

...I think this was the car that was on display at Brooklands for ages before it was sold. Could it have taken part in something like the Derek Bell races with the HSCC? The drivers name doesn't ring any bells. ...

Just had a look at that Bonhams listing...the pic is taken at Brookalnds, so I was right!

There was a chap called Ironside who raced a Ferrari 330GTC in the HSCC Novice championship in 87 when my Father was racing, I think he went on to race a black Elan...

I think it was Geoff not Jeff though. Novices was sponsored by by Classic and Sportscar mag that year so they covered the races in the mag.

Thanks Simon. It never occured to me to search on Geoff instead of Jeff. When I did that search, I found it was mentioned on TNF 12 years ago:

A few moments more googling, and I found this picture of it on eBay:

So that's the Gerhardt at the Coy's Silverstone Classic in 1994.

Geoff Ironside was a car dealer in north London, but his old location is now a different company. I'll see if I can track him down.
