Orlen's involvement doesn't look that significant (based on the positioning on Kubica's helmet), but then Williams have been handing out title sponsorship for pennies in recent years so who knows?

So what other midfield teams had 15-20m title sponsorship in recent years? The times of 50-100m title deals ended a long time ago.

That one should be on the Woking car. That would be cheeky advertising!

What's this thing with Mission Minnow? How is Marlboro linked to it? Non tobacco ciggies?

Seems to be a way of doing loads of advertising that keeps saying it's definitley not about tobacco but you end up very sure who the company is who ISN'T advertising tobacco :)

Regarding Haas' Rich Energy livery, I am getting quite tired of teams trying to recreate old liveries, particularly the JPS one. Whatever happened to originality? :stoned:

Their website is hilarious - just keeps saying this is not an advert for tobacco but by saying that is an advert for tobacco!

I can't wrap my head around what it's all about.  The website is full of vague repetitive cliches.  Philip Morris scientists?? They can't even zero in on a couple broad ideas.

Ferrari plans to run the new car during a filming day on Sunday (Feb. 17) at Barcelona - right before official testing begins. Haas has booked the track on Friday. There will also be some running on the day in between by another team. Don't know which though.

According to the recent news coming from Italy, Ferrari‘s new livery is dark red matte finish (the matte finish is similar to the one Red Bull has)

let's wait and see if it's correct   ;)

Oooh, that’d be nice. Seem to remember there was a livery mooted to be the Ferrari a couple of years ago that was dark red and it was gorgeous.

I'm not a fan of matte finish but if it means dark red, I'll take it.

For some some reason it reminds me of this song...

I am sure they will have spent a ridiculous amount of money on the whole Mission Winnow thing though. There must be a reason for it, perhaps they did some research and decided that the fairly recent fag packet logo change was not getting the results they expected. Personally not a fan of the subliminal advertising but not going to turn this into a smoking thread.

A darker shade of red would be nice but every year we hear that the Ferrari is going to be a different shade of a red but in the end it never is or the difference is so subtle that it is hardly noticeable.

If Ferrari are going darker I’m assuming that Alfa won’t be going all red next year due to colour clash? I’m assuming the two have had words regarding livery.

My two cents are still on Lavazza making its way into the FW42.

I run on Lavazza (Crema e Gusto mostly), not sure what it will do for/to the Merc in the FW42.

Not bad. This reminds me of some of the camos you can put on your weapons in Far Cry 3  :stoned:
But it's glossy and the real thing should be matte.

It's just to keep their brand name in the news with something other than ciggies. Presumably when associated with something [positive] else than ciggies, people will subconsciously feel better buying their real (and harmful) products.

Something like that anyway. Just marketing, I wouldn't lose any sleep looking for a "true" purpose other than that. ;)

So I have a question... Lets say Renault had designed a livery very similar - would they change it if it was close to what we see with HAAS? Not wishful thinking - just wondering how this works (you would think I would know this having been a fan for a bit now).

1. Do teams talk to each other to ensure liveries are not to identical?

2. Has there been a point in time where this has happened and the second to launch went back and made updates to make their liveries more distinct from others?

There have been cases when teams have had similar liveries. Possibly the worst was McLaren and Alfa Romeo when they both had nearly identical Marlboro liveries. But their number were easily read.

I remember in 1996 both Benetton and Tyrrell looked very similar as they both had predominantly white liveries with Mild Seven blue branding. Over the course of the season Benetton added more green to make the car easier to spot.

No and no. We've had LOTS of very similar liveries running in the same season, Ferrari and Scudería Italia/Dallara in late 80s and early 90s, the McLaren and Alfa Romeo in the early 80s, etc etc...

Yeah, I think the Haas is a bit dull. I get that they're a corporate brand so they need to look sleek rather than funky, but I'm a bit bored of F1 cars painted like they're executive saloons.
