I liked him, but many people found Massa to be extremely whiny and annoying.

Next up: Top 10 of the most annoying Autosport RC Threads  :D

If off-track/post career counts JV wins by a landside, but beyond that? I can find tons of annoying things about every single driver. Hard to form a Top 5 or even a Top 10 for me.

Patrese was a gentleman and a scholar, and I won't hear a bad word said against him.

Sorry, I'm sure he's a lovely guy, he just used to rub me up the wrong way for some reason.

On the usual forum standard, the list ought to be:

Hamilton

Coulthard

D. Hill

Mansell

di Resta

Chilton

Jolyon Palmer

Herbert

Brundle

Blundell

with a special Newcomer's award to Lance Stroll

But if it was about on-track behaviour, and taking off the F1 googles. it might be:

Senna

Schumacher

Paul Tracy

Jason Plato

Matt Neal

Giovanardi

Yvan Muller

Foitek

Farfus jr

Piquet jr

As for off-track.....

1-10 Nigel Mansell

11= everyone else

If we mix in social media etiquette, honourable mention to the Coronel brothers and their constant Twitter follow/unfollow spree?

Lewis is annoying for me and while some may point that this is due to his sucess, I'd also say quick Nick who didn't have any! Just for some reason these two annoy me. :stoned:

Well I suggest that you don't listen to old Murray Walker / James Hunt race commentaries. James always blamed Patrese over Ronnie Peterson's death (unfairly IMO) and whenever a race was getting a bit dull and Murray had nothing to comment on he would say something like " Patrese's having a great race this afternoon" so that James would take over with a 15 minute Patrese diatribe

Hmm... a toughie this one...

Maldonado

Grosjean

Nico Rosberg

Jacques Villeneuve

Nigel Mansell

Jos Verstappen

Nelson Piquet Jr.

Felipe Massa

Ralf Schumacher

Sebastian Vettel

Over the years all these drivers, talented or not have annoyed me for a variety of unspecified reasons.

Nobody. They are all doing something miles better than the average human being and they all have some sort of talent (some more than others obviously) that means they can be racing drivers, and I respect that.

Same goes with all sport, there are no sportsmen/women I really hate because they are doing something amazing which I and most can't do.

Heidfeld!? We've heard the 101+ reasons why Hamilton irritates people, from the gap in his teeth to not wearing a cap, but Heidfeld!? Heidfeld!?

LeeRoy Yarbrough, because I'd typecopied out loads of Daytona 500 results before I sussed out his name wasn't Yarborough.

Thierry Boutsen, because, when I was a kid and obsessed with drawing drivers' helmet designs, his was far too fiddly and faffy.  Stefan Bellof had the concept better.

Oh, and any driver with "de" or "von" in their names.  I could never work out where to put them in the alphabetical order database.

The same Piquet that once said Nigel Mansell's  missus was Fuggly or the one that deliberately crashed his car to benefit another driver?

If I'd make a list, it'd be quite short - but the Haas duo would be on it for sure.

Oh, and any driver with "de" or "von" in their names.  I could never work out where to put them in the alphabetical order database.

Just ignore those parts. If they're nobility, it's just a descriptor and not part of their name. If they're not, they shouldn't be using it anyway. :p

De is a bit more nuanced, as far as Belgians and Dutch are concerned.

Either way, Nyck de Vries and Gijs van Lennep would be sorted as such if you have the last names as a separate field;

Lennep, van / Gijs

Vries, de / Nyck

Or alternatively, as one field

Lennep, Gijs van

Vries, Nyck de

Yes, for some reason I always had the impression that he is unable to achieve anything meaningful, but quite capable of ruining someone else's race with reliable blocking and decent, if uninspiring pace. It is quite petty, but he left me that emotional feeling, which I guess is kinda irrational.
And yes, the gap in Hamilton's teeth is infuriating :rotfl: (never noticed it, actually. I mean... his teeth? That's new)

Yeah... I don't think that's what the thread is about. Look this is just fun, in a way poking a bit at all these other threads. If I insulted one of your favorite drivers I think you could handle it more like an adult. If this is some sort of axe you're grinding from way back in 2008 then I think you should maybe let it go eh?

Let the rest of us enjoy.

Philippe Alliot, for finishing 5th at San Marino in 1993.  Had he finished 7th or lower, his best result would have been 6th - five times.  Unless he finished 6th, in which case it would have been six times.

I suppose I should blame Wendlinger for that, had his engine not blown near the end then Alliot would indeed have had 6th.

Jo Gartner, for finishing the Italian GP 1984 in the Osella, while running out of fuel.  Had he stopped just before the line, he would have been classified 7th, allowing Ghinzani a point for 6th (after he ran out of fuel while running 4th).  Instead he coasted over the line to take 5th, and knock Ghinzani to 7th.  The thing is, Gartner was ineligible for points, and FISA for some inane reason didn't just jump the position and go down the list for points.  Cost Peter Charles a second points finish.  (Also, because Berger came 6th in a similarly ineligible ATS, it also cost Huub Rothengatter a point in the Spirit.)

It was certainly unfair to say the least. I could use a lot harsher words but let´s keep it "diplomatic". The real reason was most likely that he used Patrese as a scapegoat as it was James Hunt who caused the accident as he got scared when Patrese got a bit close to him and turned left* into Ronnie Peterson which sent him straight into the barriers.

*English is not my native language, and although I suppose that one could use the expression "right into" in similar cases. In this one it becomes a bit confusing though, as James Hunt turned left into Ronnie Peterson, hence the edit.

Cheers

/JC

Current grid, only vettel really annoys me.

In the past, even though I'm a bit of a fan of them as well, Schumacher (dirty) and Senna (actor).

I'm surprised that JV doesn't annoy me! I actually find him kinda interesting still.

Can I nominated Grosjean and Perez for the entire top ten please?

Seriously though:

1- Grosjean (Greatest whiner ever with no sense of self reflection, someone please get rid of him!)
2- Perez (Entitled and for being just a pr.ck really)
3- Massa (Do I need to explain?)
4- Kvyat (For remaining arrogant whilst having a breakdown)
5- Sainz (For overestimating himself while being mediocre)
6- Ocon (For being narcissistic. And can you get rid of that creepy smile?)
7- Schumacher (For being way too intense)
8- Ricciardo (I am actually a fan, but can’t stand the shoey)
9- J. Verstappen (Also a fan, but for under delivering and being a pr.ck off track)
10- M. Verstappen (Big fan, but can’t stand the childish sense of humor)

All time: Mansell, Maldonado, Jolyon Palmer.

Post career: Jacques Villeneuve

Don't hate any of them though, just annoying.
