The very first Asian Winter Series race was held earlier today at Buriram. It's not a very long series; there will be three races this weekend and another six races at Sepang on 19–20 January and 23–24 February.

Provisional entry list
1 Alessandro Ghiretti Hitech Grand Prix
2 Pavan Ravishankar Hitech Grand Prix
17 Jack Doohan Hitech Grand Prix
21 Rinus Veekay Hitech Grand Prix
27 Dan Ticktum Hitech Grand Prix
 7 Vivien Keszthelyi BlackArts Racing
15 Eshan Pieris Absolute Racing
16 Ye Yifei Absolute Racing
28 Tairoku Yamaguchi B-Max Racing Team
30 DRAGON B-Max Racing Team
29 Akash Nandy Pinnacle Motorsport
65 David Schumacher Pinnacle Motorsport
88 Amaury Cordeel Pinnacle Motorsport
81 Tomoki Takahashi Super Licence

Sadly, there was no sign of Doohan or DRAGON in race 1:

Okay then, deleted my previous post from the other thread. Driving standards were pretty low today, Ticktum was all over the place until he retired with mechanical problems, still don't understand why Marko is so keen on him.

What other thread? Not the "Top 10 Most Annoying Drivers of all Time," was it?

I mean she's pretty fast and also cute and everything, but her father is almost as bad as Lawrence Stroll in terms of chasing his own dreams through his child... The amount of hype he generates around her without truly remarkable results is just ridiculous. And sadly it works, for example, she won a "driver of the year" fan voting here a few weeks ago against the likes of Norbert Michelisz (because she finished second in the Audi R8 cup or something).

So, in addition to not meeting the FIA's own requirements for SuperLicense points, at the moment, there are not enough drivers to qualify for 100% SL points either.

I gather she is actually living her dream over her dad living hers.

Must feel good for Van Kalmhout to jump in a F3 car and beat Red Bull talent in his own formula

10 minutes to go and so far it has been a real snoozefest.

But the last 10 minutes were okay.

Didn't he overshoot every single overtaking attempt this weekend? Maybe he thought he'll walk away with the title easily.

Judging by what we've seen of him so far, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

She won a category in a Hungarian national championship, but I think she was the only full-season entrant on that particular category.

Jeez, that video is far worse. Ticktum really is making life so, so difficult for himself when he pulls stunts like this; he needs somebody on his team to smack him round the head and tell him to sort himself out.

The bloke needs to stop making himself out to the best thing since sliced bread, get his head down and let the results do the talking. Going around saying it should be easy to win the series is only impressive if he actually does it... The spoilt rude child act doesn't make up for it either.

I don't understand why Red Bull are letting him behave like this. It's terrible for their brand, and they surely cannot promote him up to F1 if he continues to behave like this.

Plain unprofessional and disrespectful, specially walking out off the podium. It's okay to be frustrated and lash out a bit on occasion, but there's just way too many instances of this kid acting like a spoilt idiot.

He absolutely did. There was an interview with him talking about racing this winter and he said something about there being no real competition for him...

However, he is protected by Red Bull,- the FIA (who decides to not follow their own rules to give him a better chance) and the media who doesn't dare to be negative for some utterly frustrating reason. I wish there was some sort of motorsport-media that actually dared to touch controversial stuff, and be on the offensive, not play defence and just report.

Ugh. Rant over. Ticktum is a child, but will get to F1, 2020 at latest. I am however impressed by VK and Yifei, and wonder if Oliver Askew actually would be a good shot for an American in the F1 ladder. Even though he probably is "too old" at 22years already.

what happened to him in Race 1 und 2?

Race 1: Started from pole, lost the lead and locked up at T3 on lap 1, dropped to P3, failed to take P2 away from Ghiretti at T3 on lap 2, went side-by-side with him into T4 and spun (out of shot, so don't know what happened) and dropped to P5. Worked his way up to P3, then (as the leaders were holding each other up) to P2. Challenged for the lead on the outside into T4 but ran wide and locked up at T5 and dropped to P3. Retired the car (don't know why) halfway through the race.

Race 2: Started in P2, took the lead momentarily but lost it to Veekay at T3. Put real pressure on Veekay the first four laps, even got back into the lead once into T3 but was repassed by Veekay (who used the runoff area out of the hairpin). Then his tyres seemed to go away. He dropped back and trundled along in P2 for twelve minutes or so until he was caught and easily overtaken by Ye Yifei. Took the chequered flag in P3 but was given a 10-second time penalty for track limits and finished in P6.

Not true. Red Bull portrays itself as a "maverick" brand to a primarily young audience. They don't want to appear dull or conventional. Their image has always been that the people who drink Red Bull push the limits of behavior and don't follow the standard rules - those boring people who do are old fashioned and drink coke. Dan (and in F1 Max) fit with the companies image perfectly.

if he does not get more mature, he won't finish in the top 6 of super formula

Even though he is in one of the best honda teams.

More importantly i don't know if he will have the adaptability to work with only one English speaking person in the team like Gasly was able to do (it took him three rounds in order to craft his way of working with the team)

I absolutely adore the extreme polarities people jump to without any sense or thought. It's either you're a robot or are Ticktum. Just goes to show how most people haven't grown up since kindergarten. Fresh air my ass.

He can say all sorts of nasty swear words but his presence is frail and a mockery of what it means to be a Racing driver and a conscious human being.

While I agree with this whole heartedly, in the case of Dan his career results do not taly with the size of his ego and the amount of hot air he produces...
