Red Bull have always been quite poor in Melbourne. If they can even be close to Merc/Ferrari there then it’s a big positive for the rest of the season

the skidblocks exist solely to protect the wooden plank under the car from wearing out. The wooden plank exists to enforce a ride height "limit", too much wear on it you 're dqed.The material they 're made off is a different story, whether it's for effect or for substance. But in essence, in testing, you don't get scutineered so they may be more lax about replacing them. Or they are not running the car heavy enough for them to be a factor.
Also, keep in mind, Barcelona is generally pretty smooth asphalt.

I should have expressed myself clearer, I meant to say that they changed from heavier metal skid blocks to (also sparkier) titanium ones because of safety reasons. Still think they’ll have skid blocks during testing and that the absence of sparks is due to fuel loads.
