We ran out of holes

I’m sure if true Marko would blame Gasly for it because of binning it twice in testing :p

Pierre filled the holes with armco and gave Aero a new design idea :)

It seems like a nice package all together, a promising update.

Let's hope she's as fast as she looks.

Can you run out of holes every race weekend if it goes like FP1 just did?

Well it seems Verstappen got a free new hole. Water leak is reported.

The only driver who looks to have the capacity to run anywhere near the Mercedes cars is Verstappen, and he's out of the car right now, as Red Bull works on a suspected water leak in his RB15.

Is this the same engine that was leaking in FP1 Spain? Or is this his 2nd unit?

Not sure what to expect. FP1 was pretty promising but FP2 obviously compromised. I still think pole is not completely out of order and Max could surprise us if they can get the setup right for Saturday.

RB haven't been this far off Merc since 2015. Not a sliver of a chance for pole

Again guys, this is the thread about the technical aspects of the RB15.

Well, the question is if they are technically close enough to MErc to be able to fight for pole, no...? :)

I dont see it happening and neither does Red Bull it seems.

Let's see, FP1 he was definitely in the mix and in FP2 he could not set a representative time. I think Max has at least 0.5 second on Gasly here so that would not put him that far off. They are obviously not favorite but with a bit of luck and the right setup who knows.

Anyway this is probably not the right thread.

Cool pictures. But to me, they just highlight how bad the aero rules are. The front wings are obscenely large and the halo is another afterthought. As cool as the tech is, all the strakes and vanes are annoying to look at. I'd like simpler bargeboards and less wide front wings too.

If they challenge for pole that would be great. Seems Toro Rosso are knocking at their door too which is good news for the two and for Honda imo.

There was a picture yesterday with a spinning Williams. When it was sideways, it didn't have that much space in relation to the width of the track. Give it a few years and when a car spins, it gets stuck between both sides of the track.

Of course. This year is going to be a 1-2 Mercedes shitfest for all the season. They are the only one who are using the tyres well.

RB deserved much more last year when Newey and the team made one hell of a car. Unfortunately Renault didn't do a good job...

it has stopped being an enjoyable season for me. it's amazing how much faster the mercs are. max driving stellar (compare the gaps to pierre) is half a second slower than lewis with a mediocre lap. on a short circuit!

thier Tag heuer won gp at this time last year, well the RB15 is thier best ever made car , it has the RB14 magic in it (look at STR)  only one thing has been changed since last year!

Surprised that Red Bull constantly have been batteling Ferrari on equal terms. I envisioned Mercedes a clear nr. 1, Ferrari a clear number 2, and Red Bull a lonely third before the season started.

I think Red Bull will be a clear number 3 in Canada, expect Ferrari to perform well there,.

If they kept last years tyres Red Bull might even be a clear number 1, but not even Pirelli tyres will stop Red Bull and Max eventually

I might be on my pat malone here but I think RBs problem is still the PU. The mercs jumped almost 1.4s between q1 and q3. Nobody else came close to that sort of improvement. Most teams managed .5 to .9 of a second at most. Max may have been able to broach 1s if hed done a decent second run but it seems to me he is often able to smash out close to his maximum first go so I don’t think he’d have improved much more.

Merc still seem to have a secret sauce in terms of engine mode if you ask me.

That's what Marko said. But the chassis is also not quite up to their standards yet, but getting closer. If things go according to plan, most of the engine gap should be bridged by the time they go to Spa.

The bigger jump for Mercedes is because they used the highest mode particularly late in qualifying this time (didn't need it earlier).

Have Red Bull announced when the next big chassis/aero upgrade will be? Eager to see what tricks they have up their sleeve to bridge the gap to Mercedes.

If anyone can do it, it's Newey.  But then again, Mercedes aero department is twice the size of Red Bull aero department (That statement came from Newey himself). It will be really difficult to out develop Mercedes without exploiting something in the rules.

I honestly don’t think RB will ever bridge the gap under these regs. Max will be off to Ferrari or Merc come the end of his contract.

You seriously? This is monaco,a 10kw or a 20kw difference cant make much gain in laptime like other track.I dont think its the PU mode that why Mercedes jumped 1.4s between q1 and q3,its more about the chassis and tryes.
