Great helmet from Danny boy, like 90's Benetton or an 80's one-piece skiing suit

I have some money set aside for a hat version of the Ricciardo helmet.

Hat versions of helmet always remind me of Damon Hill. After he left Williams, his cap designs included same shapes as the helmet.

The blue of Damon’s helmet was inspired by the caps worn by the Oxford rowing club so that’s a cap inspired by a helmet inspired by a cap.

London Rowing Club, not Oxford. I believe Graham Hill was a member at some point, and simply carried over his rowing colours to his racing helmet.

I look forward to someone much more talented than I reproducing Danny Ric's helmet in Gran Turismo Sport...

Hulkenberg's helmet is just too cool.

Totally agree. Best lid of the lot imho

If ever a helmet was able to capture a drivers personality, its Daniels.

Bravo!

Usually they use white shirts with very long sleeves to capture people like that.  :rotfl:

Not at all. On TV their helmets looked similar indeed from certain angles. And it was discussed in press and on TV as well prior to Michael changing the colours.

Both had blue top and red on sides.

Yes, thanks, I know they had similar helmets.

Not really a reason to change. How fortunate that team number one Michael was the one to do so and that, after no doubt months of deliberation, he settled on Marlboro orangey-red as his chosen colour.

Anyways, Ricciardo's helmet. I love it BUT the big number and slogan need to go!

There were some incidents with backmarkers a few races before where Barrcihello had to start from the back and drivers were confused if they were fighting for position.

According to rumors, Gasly would also use Schuberth. This is due to aerodinamics

Gasly is still using Arai.

Worst helmet design ever. Looks like a one year old designed it.

Here’s Ocon’s design. It’s back to basics for him, which I like. I think the design is easily recognisable, as it’s virtually unchanged from what he used to have at Manor, and not too complex at first glance. The contrast between the red and black is nice, and the lighter accents work well, too. Also love that he kept the Eiffel Tower on the lid.

Still a shame it peobably won’t see much use, though.

Not unless he wears it when he is standing around the Mercedes pit. Seriously why did he even bother?

Well, he needs to carry a complete set of equipment with him for every race weekend, and it’s an easy opportunity to collect some social media brownie points. (Except from the few unhealthily obsessed Mexicans or Dutchmen, of course.)

Ralf never added green to his helmet. So I seriously do not understand why people are coming up with the Ralf helmet all the time.

I think it is because of the giant german flag behind, which is something ralf has prominently.

That white halo/band just destroys the designs (unless designed around them, like Schumi/Hakkinen etc)

Why would he pick Ralf in place of his father? There is a notable difference in succes between the two.

Because Ralf is probably the Mick's only F1 ancestor that Mick has interaction with.

I beleive it is Ralf who is taking care of both Mick's and David's carrers.

Nonsense. Mick has always run a green helmet livery with yellow accents. Even green metallic was wolven into the early karting days design when he raced under the Betsch name.
He incorporated some of his father's design later on during the post karting days.

What I meant was that this neon yellow that comes with the green seems to be reminiscent of Ralf's.

Obviously there are differences, but overall I think there seemed to be considerably more green on his previous helmets when compared to the model he's using this year.

Add to that the fact that MIchael actually abolished the German gradient from his lid and Ralf never did. So when you compare the 3 side by side, although we do see some elements from dad, I think the overall vibe is closer to Uncle Ralf.

IndyCar put the 2010 GP of Alabama up on YT yesterday. I noticed EJ Viso had a design quite reminiscent of Ricciardo's current lid:

He had some nice designs that year.

But i think Michael took it off later part. Also, because as someone mentioned, it is because Mick's choice of colour is slightly more resembling Ralf's rather than Michael's.

What is the story of MS and Ralf sharing half and half helmets?

Quote from TenTenths.com in Jan 2002.  Used during testing.....

"Asymmetrical the design is divided into two longitudinally. The one half is the same colours of the Ferrari ace's original helmet. However the other half, which is in tones of yellow, bares more of a resemblance to that of his younger brother Ralf's helmet.

Schumacher's new helmet, which is designed by the Schuberth company, if a prototype helmet that is to be tested by both of the Schumacher brothers. As there is only one existing prototype at the moment it was necessary to satisfy the sponsors of both Ferrari and Williams and that is how the helmet got its design."

I'd love to see some chicken legs on the side of Gelael's car in front of the cockpit, as with Sonic on the Williams FW15C:

Incidentally, that looks miles better than his usual mess. Still too many zigzags, but the colour scheme with the white, the – actually, what is that? It doesn’t actually look like gold… coffee cream maybe? – and the darker shadows actually looks nice.
