My favorite Indycar drive in my most loathed Nascar driver's garage.

It's pretty certain that Johnson won't advance now

They’re adding another 1200 seats for the 500 next year too.

It's already the largest sporting venue in the world, isn't it ?

This day feels like a passage of powers (i.e. Jimmie Johnson likely not making the Playoffs).

It looks worse here but it does show the truth of the matter.

Well the truth is that biggest race in Nascar is more watched than biggest race in IndyCar

Here are numbers:

Indy 500 5,435,000 millions viewers

Daytona 500 9,170,000 millions viewers

For a minute yesterday afternoon, I was thinking this was the last race of the year, not the last before the playoofs.  This feels like the Bataan Death March.

Indeed, but few of those 9m NASCAR viewers turned out at the Brickyard 400, which is the point OvDrone was making.

Nothing in the works yet, but Indy is open to evaluating a possible future roval event per the track president. We'll see how the upcoming Charlotte races factors into this....

I'm going to put NASCAR on rovals down with unboxing videos on Youtube and people actually watching esports as recent developments in our cultural zoo that I just don't understand.

You want to know how many of those 5 million (from Indy 500) watch other IndyCar races?

For example Indycar's Portland 1,1 million

Race before in Gateway ONLY 310,000

Pocono 549,000

YAS Matt Di!

Effort equals excellence. Can't wait to root for the #21 again.

Cheers to Menard as well. He's cool and I wish him 10 last great races to go out on a high.

Based on his time in Trans-Am...

Paul Menard did much, much better than I was anticipating when he began his NASCAR Cup career. A Brickyard 400 winner, no less

Given how gutted DiBenedetto seemed to be to lose the Leavine drive I’m delighted for him that he’s now got a much better ride instead.

Menard wasn’t so bad. I just thought he was an underwhelming replacement for Blaney in a car I’m used to seeing a young talent in.

Kyle, Denny, Chase, Clint.

Kyle and Denny wreck each other on the last restart.  Chase takes it.

All Newman (and his 1 top 5) for me. They should name the cup after him.
Lot of dicing at the start. Development 1- Kyle into the wall.

Truex has owed Logano a bump since Martinsville last fall . . .

I was in Vegas last week didn’t get to the race but they were parading the cars down the strip on Thursday and those things are beasts, so loud! Very impressive

This should be implement in Nascar

Ecclestone wants to get rid of the point system: "Give them medals"

He thinks it is strange that someone who does not win can still collect points and thus keep a chance at the championship. According to Ecclestone, it makes more sense to work with medals.

The number one currently receives 25 points, the number two receives 18 points and the number three receives 15 points. Ecclestone feels more like replacing this with a gold, silver and bronze medal. "I never wanted this point system that way. I would have preferred medals," he says in conversation with the German medium Auto Motor und Sport . "Whoever has collected the most gold medals is a world champion. That forces a driver to fight for the win."

I'd be happy to see that in a number of motorsports. There might be a few years where someone runs away with a bunch of wins, but better to see that rewarded than via the many flawed points systems that have existed in racing.

Nope.

Come on, hardly terrible. Solid enough mid-pack in a car that’s hardly one of the best. I think it’s quite harsh. Like it or not, Childress aren’t what they were and he’s been pretty close to Dillon from what I’ve seen.
