What do you mean? Every race we always got at least two yellows.

Well 2 good finishes, 3 if you count the gratuitous plate race.

Only caught the last stage, was the racing good in the first half?

Very good race. After the farce in Daytona I missed Atlanta, but Vegas was great. Proper hard racing, good fight to the very end    :smoking:

That's desert rock/landscaping.  It's what the natural terrain looks like here.  The seats in the terraces (technical sellout in terms of reserved seats) are painted in that checkerboard random color scheme to make them look full from afar.  You could notice it on Fri and Sat.  I didn't go this year (I usually at least go spend Fri in the Fanzone/garage).  Fri was pretty slim, Sat not much better but it did rain quite a bit Fri night/Sat morning.

The rock around the track used to house temporary grandstands back during the boom.  They stretched around 3 and 4 and down through turn 1.  When I went in 2007 the attendance was about 165k on race day.  There are about 70k permanent seats now.  They removed another 10k after the fall race last year.  On the lower front straight the natural landscape is what they did when they removed seats.  Early calculations indicate around 100k on race day with most from out of the area (around 80k from out of town).  We were almost full in town in terms of hotel occupancy (about 150k rooms) but there were a couple of other big events plus all the usual gigs.  Unlike most of the other Nascar races the attendance totals are audited by the LVCVA as they are both event tax exempt and get a subsidy from room tax so the hard ticket sales numbers are required to be reported.

McDowell is not coming off well in this.  He initiates the fight with the helmet advantage, immediately loses despite of that, and then takes advantage of the guy being pinned down by someone else to pull on the leg in the most comical fashion.

That's quite funny. McDowell, helmet on, launches at Suarez (who has hands down).....and gets effortlessly taken out before trying to pull his leg. 10/10 Suarez, really.

Right, I'm trying to go for motorsport overload, done Formula E, MotoGP and Indycar, and now I'm watching Nascar. I've watched Nascar before (for the crashes) and know some names but think it's about time I got my head around it. So who's the underdogs and who's the Will Power of Nascar?

The big dogs are:

Stewart-Haas - #4 Harvick, #14Bowyer, #41 Suarez and #10 Almirola

Penske - #2 Keselowski, #22 Logano, #12 Blaney and #21 Menard as associate in the Wood Bros Ford

These 2 teams are the Ford big boys.

Toyota's main gig is Joe Gibbs Racing with #18 Kyle Busch, #19 Truex, #11 Hamlin and #20 Jones.

DiBenedetto in the #95 is our underdog golden boy.

Chevy has 2 leviathans in Hendrick with #48 Jimmie Johnson, #9 Elliot, #88 Bowman and #24 Byron.

Ganassi with #42 Larson and #1 Kurt Busch. These are our mainboys.

Cheers OvDrone.

I have tried many times to follow a Nascar race but it ain't easy, hopefully after a few years of following Indycar and watching them on ovals I'll be able to keep track of what's going on more.

Nascar seems to be like BTCC but with added testosterone and ovals. :-D

Do we have a Sato in this where you clench everytime he's near anyone?

I'm already a fan of Wallace just because his first name's Bubba and that's a cool name.

Hope you'll swing by often. I believe there's still a lot of fun to be had with Nascar. Racing is Racing and there is no shortage of drama to be had here.

Nascar is more F1 than Indycar though, but we aren't.
It can be extra corporate, and the big teams have budgets that eclipse all others. Also, the series is way too aero and downforce dependant. Just gotta not take everything too serious, you know, like life.

I say Yaasss to more Motorsport overall.

As much as I can't live without motorsport I will never take it seriously, it says alot about me that I've only posted in the Indycar threads even though I've been a F1 fan for 30 years.

It's no surprise I'm single when I'd rather stay in all weekend overdosing on anything involving an engine, tires and a track lol. :-D

I'll be more than happy to join you guys here.

Sundays are therapy and holy me-time with racing. Gives you great energy for the birth of a new week.

Unless Logano wins or some other nonsense.

Finished the race after all. Gotta say I am impressed by what Kyle Bush is doing. If he passes 200 wins, how would that compare to Petty's record?

As he has said himself. Not at all.

King Petty won his races in the highest category. 'Only' 52 of Busch's are.
There's no doubt that Kyle is one AMAZING race driver and a surefire Hall of Famer. But Petty still rule them all.

But were there different categories that far back? It is different era of course and Petty has seven championships, which says it all, but I am interested in the specifics, because I don't know NASCAR history as much as F1 for example.
