And Bristol used to be one of the hardest tickets to get in NASCAR...

Nascar ain't in good shape.

I still can't for the life of me get why we double visit so many places in a season.

More stage racing silliness: Bowyer stays out to get the win, gets beat by Dillon, now has to pit.

I guess it's bittersweet af. On one hand getting the pomp and ceremony, on the other seeing a sport you love so much wither away to dust.

There barely are ten people in the grandstands.

I wonder if Logano's stage win did not provoke that post  :p

Kyle is a proper great driver IMO. Like him or not. He is not my favorite, but I enjoy watching him making things happen for him.
Also, the race was very entertaining. Love short tracks

I was thinking the same thing. There were a couple similar incidents earlier where they didn't throw the caution. Nothing new for NASCAR. Also there was the last restart being allowed to happen with the lineup mess.

They milked the cow dry, is what happened. Over saturation of the product made it tiresome.

When my Dad turned 60 in 2010, we took him to Loudon to watch the NASCAR race. It was pretty excellent, but there isn't really any chance that I'd go travelling again to watch a NASCAR race. I remember trying to get Bristol tickets, and we left it too late, couldn't get 4 seats together as they were sold out.

I bet traffic in and out of the race would be way better these days, though.

On Dutch tv they keep telling us its because the weather, possible rain and cold weather keeps the spectators away?

Where you want.

1.5 Mile Tracks producing somewhat boring races.

Playoff

Stage Racing

Fewer Cars

When finally an 'upset' happens, it's not viable financially and the team decides to pull out.

Gradually more boring racing (this is very subjective, I know - but the crowd numbers seems to show that I am not alone about the impression)

Feels more like a show, than a sport.

That's just from the top of my head before heading to bed!

The overall trend dates back more than a decade - below is an Autoweek race report from April 2007 that briefly touches on it.

A combination of numerous factors IMO, including the gimmicks, shaky management pushing changes unpopular with fans and participants, such as the design of the original Car of Tomorrow. Also in light of DW's retirement announcement and the Earnhardt/Gordon rivalry documentary which has been airing recently, there aren't similar dynamic personalities that can really push the sports visibility at the moment.

There has been poor weather at the spring event in the past, but numbers across the board are down and specifically at Bristol have declining for a few years

For me the main reason is play-off system. Because races til then have no sense. For my driver is enough 1 win and I don't need to watch any more til play-off. Stages are fine. But what I would do. This, for every stage win 1 golden medal and for race win 2 golden medals (or simply one). Play-off sacked and champ is the one who collect the most gold medals, fair.

I personally like the play-off system as it is now. It does provides exciting season endings. I'd prefer a final two for the final round though.

Anybody following the NASCAR Euro series? Catched the first race on YouTube, it was pretty fun, although Valencia is not a great track for cars.

I expected Logano to repeat bump 'n run from Martinsville last year. Why he didn't? And the opponent was the same. Joey from me one big
