That's a long way of saying he knows what he is doing.

Has the appeal come back yet? Alfa desperately needs those points!

24th september at earliest, if it will be even look at, because you actually can't appeal on timepenalties, you can appeal if you are disqualified (similar thing happend with Vettel/Canada). So wouldn't be too hopefull.

If it would be look at and they would return those points, then Haas/Williams etc can appeal as well and similar time will be needed.

Well Alfa maybe able to protest on process violation not the penalty as such. It has been suggested stewards were notified of the violation almost as soon as it happened but they failed to act on it in timely manner. I don't know if it applies to technical infringements but on sporting violations they have to act in allotted time (something like 20 minutes after being notified) or let it go. I think they can only refer investigation post race if the investigated competitor has retired from the race.

Maybe a chance for both to get into Q3 hopefully!

Possibly and as many drivers 6 or more have gridpenalties, their starting grids could be very high. Kimi was happier with setups after fp3.

Im sure tomorrow will be tough day for Kimi. Hes leg injury isnt that big problem for single fast laps, but doing 44 laps in a row is different story.

I feel for him. Just hope he can go all 44 laps...

If Renaults have penalties, Kimi will win the best of the rest race.

What tires was Kimi running in Q3? Used/new?

Looked like a tire lottery where in Q2 it worked

Kimi said " speed wad damn good at times, but it was hard to get tyres to work, we could have been couple of places higher but in the end it doesn't matter as we will start from 6th anyway."

First q3 was with old and second with new.

His q2 lap was mega, it was with old tyres (used when giovinazzi had to retire)

Kimi probably still was not aware that Renaults had penalties when he gave the interview, his P6 position (tomorrow's) is the max he could get from today

edit: it is of course if he was not meaning Vers (P5 then)

His S2 from Q2 will be remembered. True King of Spa. He destroyed the midfield there. Only 0.2 in S2 in Q2 from Leclerc.

I was right when I said he couldn't repeat that lap in Q3.

Who knows what role all the top guys slowing each other down in the curvy part played... He had to clear them all there on his first attempt. They collectively deserved a penalty if you ask me.

Yeah FIA has to stop that crap. But they don`t seem to care if midfielders get screwed.

Kimi should just retire & save the engine. Car clearly has very bad damage.

Well that's it then. This should have been an opportunity to score big, but then bloody Verstappen happened. Antonio raced very good, but inexcusable crash in the end.

Of course it might be a driver error, as we saw with Hamilton, but with tarmac runoffs it's rare to see drivers stick it in the tyre wall.

Costly mistake at the end

Total humiliation. Gio wasting good points & team wasting mileage on kimi:s car for nothing.

This was 100% on Verstappen who tried to outbrake 2 cars from far away in a very short breaking zone. The dude never seems to learn, he had the pace to fight for the win and would have overtaken Kimi and Perez in a few laps anyway.

This better be a mechanical for Gio otherwise its not acceptable how often he crashes or spins

So are they gonna take new spec Ferrari PU to Monza for Kimi ( and penalty) or why use this PU this much as it was clear that side of the car and floor was damaged. Floor damage alone is 0,5s-1,0s/lap.

They should have indeed saved the car and PU....what was the point to continue after that? Freaking Max robbed Kimi the race, he was NEVER going to make that corner intact....Ofc perhaps Kimi was too trustworthy to think that no one would be stupid enough to come through there like that, but either way that was entirely down to stupidity of Max again. 2 years in row now that his race was screwed in first corner by Red Bull hitting him in rear.

And Gio ofc threw away 2 points at the end.

Yup and both of tha races were started from 6th. Can't expect much from Monza either, if they take the PU penalty.

Why did they have Kimi drive around with badly broken car?

Really unlucky to lose the great starting place from Max making way too ambitious move. Silly stuff.

Not sure what happened to Gio in the end. Car seemed to have great speed today, yet 0 pts.

Kimi said they did it because you never know what happends in the race, but really you couldn't do anything with a car that lost other side of the floor.

Giovinazzi did a silly mistake.

I was saying early this morning kimi "will get rammed in the first corner by someone".i mean kmag, perez and verstappen were around. He should have gone wide just in case.

Big shame he could have got 10-8 points today. The car was fast and kimi excells at spa. Very gutted.

Also there was no point in hangging around at kubica speed with a sick car. They should have retired and spare car and kimi s leg.

According to TS, Alfa and Haas won't perhaps take spec 3 Ferrari PU in to the use at all.Paddock rumours say, that they would have to pay extra money to Ferrari from that and both teams are already using their third PU parts, so they would receive penalties.

For Kimi, penalty is a matter of time.Acording to TS, Alfa has decided to take new PU (same spec 2, no extra pay needed)in use when qualifying don't go so well and Kimi won't be in Q3, then the penalty won't hurt as much.

That's not allowed anymore. The rules say that the customer teams need to have the same engine as the works team. Charging extra money, really Ferrari?

Anyway, I'm sensing a lack of decisiveness from Alfa/Ferrari again. What's the point of sacrificing every race, running an older engine? Just sacrifice 1 race, take the penalty, and be done with it. Same thing happened with Raikkonen last year, it wasn't pretty.

Looking at fp3 times, this good be painful, even Honda and Renault cars are quicker.

What's going on with Kimi? Two offs in a single Q session. Might be a difficult car in a race distance.

- Kimi's lap record still stands :)
