I reckon that 25 entry is a place holder for Colton.

One thing that bugs me is how Miller answers basically the same questions over and over and over. On the other hand, I don't know if I admire him for his patience.

I think you have to admire the patience.  Particularly when people are complaining about things to RACER that they'd know more about if they'd carefully read, or even scanned, what had appeared in the last three days in the pages of RACER.

Hmm. The statement from the Air Force's marketing person at the end mentions Conor Daly by name. Times change, and drivers get moved aside, but my reading of the article is that Daly is an intrinsic part of the #25 entry for Laguna.

The situation at Harding Racing is sad because they're the best new Indycar team since Bryan Herta Autosport. I don't want to dwell on misery but I wonder how much Al Unser, Jr's addiction trouble this year has contributed to their funding problems. They don't have their names on the door but I understand that he and Tony Crony Brian Barnhart had a lot to do with the team's founding. If I was looking to get myself or my clients involved in Indycar, being able to hang out with (sober!) Little Al at the races would be pretty high on my reasons for doing so.

I was thinking about starting a worst, red-headed, left-handed, only child who like raisins but not chocolate, Indycar driver who wanted number 3 but got 29 instead in giant block numbers, and could not spell Penske properly, versus Fred topic. I better start my research. :D

Its actually very complicated riddle

Fits with the anti-information crowd. They're contacting Miller in hopes he will give them an answer they agree with and will support their complaints/beliefs/fever dreams. If he doesn't, then they call him a hack spewing "fake news." They want someone to tell them only what they want to hear.

When Boesel was an Indycar journeyman the TV broadcasts used to make a big thing about how he was a competition show jumper (i.e. horses). And a DJ!

Bet it turns out Chico Serra moonlights as a wedding caterer next.

There’s been a few racing DJs. Giancarlo Fisichella, Jaime Alguersuari and Sakon Yamamoto are some off of the top of my head.

I'll put the Pocono race thread up first thing tomorrow.

I'm just back from my own summer break and the draft is on the work computer.

One of the highlights of this week's largely newsless (Miller seems to think Hinch is headed for RLL) mailbag is all the high information readers calling out last week's low information correspondents.  Progress!

The latest Miller Mailbag had something that I thought was intriguing:

“Thanks to Cara Adams at Firestone we have a shipment of tires coming and Kurt Johnson of Total Venue Concepts is going to wear out multiple sets on the high side to get that groove brought in. We are taking the same approach we took to the Truck race where we had lots of three-wide racing taking place. In addition, we are going to drag the track with Firestone rubber just prior to the start of the IndyCar event so that the track is groomed perfectly to give drivers some grip and the fans a show.”

Was the 'tire dragon' the reason that Gateway was such a success last year? Regardless, hopefully this year's race was as tense as last year's.

I think it partly might also be that the Gateway layout just plain suits Indycars.  Ovals seem to be hit and miss, but certain tracks work very well with these cars to consistently put on great races.  I can think of a couple not currently on the schedule, but they're also unlikely to be tracks that get added any time soon.

I think current Indycars generally work better at ovals with flatter banking and/or longer straights. The cookie cutter high banked tracks were great for IRL flat out pack racing but we don’t really want to see that any more.

Just like he was when he was in Indycar...   DOH!!  Just trying to see if I can troll JP.   :stoned:

While that's mighty humble of him Dario is the consummate professional.  A professional's professional.  I can't think of anyone more appropriate or more deserving of driving at Goodwood.  I'm surprised he hasn't done it prior to now.

Yeah man, i'm strictly following the F1 points system. Which reminded me, i forgot to give Power 1 point for the fastest lap!

Or is it actually 0.5 point? :p

Either way, at this stage with 3 races remaining the mathematical cutoff point for a title challenge is at 117 points (25+1 pt for a win and a fastest lap, so a maximum possible 78 points up for grabs, with the leader at 195), meaning that only Newgarden, Dixon, Rossi and Pagenaud are still in the hunt. I'm pretty sure they'd be thrilled to know this completely irrelevant factoid. :rotfl:

Kinda funny, as I think they had it narrowed down to these four on the broadcast, as well. :p

Well realistically, even with the IndyCar's unnecessarily generous points system and double points in the last race and even though there are others with a mathematical shot at the title it must be one of these four in the end.

Which just proves that regardless of the points system the cream will always rise to the top.

Am I the only one who thinks that this looks actually have more appeal and charm.

If I were a lady I would date Josef from this picture almost instantly.

On the other hand I have absolutely no feelings whatsoever fro real life Josef

And Rossi too. This "geek" is hot!
