I'm determined to get to as many as I can next year, but I'm really aiming to make the Rolex 24 happen in January, finally, and then figuring out the rest of the year from there.  Long Beach and Laguna are relatively local for me; and as an old IRL fan who likes history, I'm down for Richmond.  My aunt lives near the track in Alabama, too.

Like PiperPa42 I’m looking at Road America, Richmond and ...
If anyone from here wants to do the 500...
I’d be glad to host y’all.
(Piper: I preliminarily reserved with Rosey and Juan again for next year )

Road America is awesome....stayed at La Quinta Inn on the edge of Sheboygan...15 minutes drive to track, and 15 mins to Lake Michigan..

I need to pre book Indy hotel....did you book direct with the hotel??

I do not think AJ Foyt was ever an indictment on Indycar's legitimacy as a sport. Not to mention Mario. Or Big Al

You do not know what Indy means.

They were old, but they were not absent from the sport for 20 years.

I used booking.com this year, but try contacting them directly. They are very friendly.

Sounds like plenty of plans are coming together already for race attendances next year. All very exciting!

I myself am looking towards 2021 to do the Indy 500 and Duel in Detroit. Will be a solo trip as no one else i know is remotely interested in Indycar.

My next trip to the US of A is om three weeks though as we are heading to Denver to visit family.

Well it kinda fits for both. I think I’d rather see Indycar at the Charlotte roval than at the Indy roval.

The 2019 IndyCar season Top Ten points finishers, in verse:

Mini Borgs clog shelves

at Team Penske, but Astor

Cups are also nice.

A Baby Borg and

more time with Norman make the

offseason sweeter.

Contract, intrateam

domination leave just one

goal—championship.

Chip’s team seeks new hire.

Radiator armorer!

Specialists only!

Two wins!  Three poles!  Yet

somehow a subpar year for

DJ Willy P.

Rosenqvist now knows

the tracks and drivers .  You have

been suitably warned!

Two wins!  Three poles!  Not

yet twenty!  Of legal age

before Astor Cup?

Rossi! Now Herta!

Beware asking, “Bring the Heat,”

Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Two wins!  Two poles!  Yet

those aren’t why we think about

Takuma Sato.

Consistent starts of

midpack or lower are how

you land here, Graham.

I don't know..the Charlotte infield looks really fiddly with tiny slow corners

I've always thought the best looking infield track seems to be Homestead...if we need to have another roval that's the one I'd like to see

You can have a look here to see various US roval maps

I'll be controversial and say that, as a rule of thumb, rovals aren't my cup of tea. Run at a dedicated oval or at a dedicated road course instead. I can make an exception for the Indianapolis road course though, as it has provided good racing in recent years.

In all my busyness, I managed to miss updating this for Portland, so just combining the last two for the end of the season.

Max's Official Unofficial Team Championship - Best Result (end of season)

In the end, Penske were imperious, taking the Best Result title by over 200 points ahead of a closely-matched Andretti and Ganassi. RLL ended up in a no-man's land in 4th place, with Coyne a decent 5th. The double-points race paid off for Schmidt Peterson and Harding Steinbrenner, as both managed to overhaul Ed Carpenter Racing at the final race, with the latter dropping two places at the death. Foyt and Carlin were a long way back - though both actually outscored Schmidt Peterson over the final four races. McLaren have got a lot of work to do next year.

fA4dB8c.png

Intra-team win total:

Penske: Newgarden: 7 / Power: 6 / Pagenaud: 4 / (Castroneves: 0)

Andretti: Rossi: 11 / Hunter-Reay: 4 / Veach: 2 / Andretti: 0 (oh Marco) / (Daly: 0)

[Andretti w/ Harding: Rossi: 10 / Hunter-Reay: 3 / Herta: 2 / Veach: 2 / Andretti: 0 / (Daly: 0)]

Ganassi: Dixon: 13 / Rosenqvist: 4

RLL: Rahal: 12 / Sato: 5 / (King: 0)

DCR: Bourdais: 11 / Ferrucci: 6 / (Davison: 0)

ASPM: Hinchcliffe: 13 / Ericsson: 4 / (Servia: 0) / (Daly: 0)

[ASPM w/ Meyer Shank: Hinchcliffe: 10 / Harvey: 4 / Ericsson: 3 / (Servia: 0) / (Daly: 0)]

ECR: Pigot: 10 / (Carpenter: 4) / (Jones: 3)

Foyt: Kanaan: 11 / Leist: 6

Carlin: (Chilton: 6) / (O'Ward: 5) / (Daly: 3) / (Kimball: 3) / (Enerson: 0) / (Karam: 0)

DRR: (Karam: 1) / (Hildebrand: 0)

Frood's Official Unofficial Team Championship - Average of Entered Cars (end of season)

All season long, the battle for 3rd has been between Andretti and RLL behind Penske and Ganassi, but when a one-car team wins a double-points race, neither make the podium... instead, Harding Steinbrenner jump from 6th to 3rd with Colton Herta's victory! Only 1.1 points separated Schmidt Peterson and Ed Carpenter Racing here, with the latter just coming out on top; though once again Schmidt Peterson were the lowest scorers in the last 4 races (mind you, Foyt and Carlin even outscored Andretti in the last four races, such has been Veach and Andretti's invisibleness!)

Thing is, rovals are always limited by being constrained by the surrounding oval and the flat infield. Usually, the bigger the oval, the better.

But I thought the Charlotte roval looked decent and relatively flowing.

I found it reminiscent of Zak Brown and Fernando Alonso.*

I don't suppose rovals in and of themselves are that great, but watching NASCAR racers on the Roval is supreme entertainment, or at least it was last year.

I like for team championship points, total in race by each driver and then divide by amount of drivers in the team.  If Ganassi gets 50 points and there are two drivers he gets 25 points.  It helps the small teams if they win a race, or get good results.

I don't think NASCAR is smart putting an IndyCar on the roval.  They are soooo much faster.  Someone will time the lap.  Even though the car won't be set up correct and tires may be compromised, the IndyCar will still be 20-30 seconds faster a lap.  Maybe the fans are different, but I don't think I would put something like that on display knowing I could lose fans.  You aren't gaining any

A couple minutes of footage in this thread here:

When legendary NASCAR owner Jack Roush was asked today if he'd ever run Indycar, he responded, "Well, I believe first and foremost that race cars have doors."

He then went on to quote the old saying about winning it on Sunday and selling it on Monday. Okay, when I can put in an order for a Car of Tomorrow or whatever the Tin Tops are driving now, I'll let him know.

Marco's just waiting for when they start counting social media likes toward the championship. Then he'll finally pull his weight, as opposed to being a quarter the driver his dad was, and a fifty-th of the driver his grandfather was.
