Immature?

If the shoey fits...

He is, but that's part of his appeal. I hope he doesn't change and think it brought some levity to F1 that is showing in the younger guys coming in too.

Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see much in the way of videos of Dan and Hulk together last year.  I thought being of similar age they may have gelled well, but it didn't seem like it. Maybe Dan is just too jokey and immature for Hulks persona is it didn't work out.  Anyway, form that video these two seem a little more natural together, so hopefully they will have a relationship more like Dan/Max or Carlos/Lando.

Yeah I reckon you missed a few. There was some good ones of Hulk and Dan joking around. They seemed to get along pretty well too. Hard to tell how well Ocon and Ricciardo will gel but I thought Hulk and Dan got along pretty well though.

...well there you go, you've all just put me firmly back in place!!!  :p

Maybe you're all right, I just wasn't looking for it.

In response to questioning my use of the term immature, of course he is, and its great, as am I and I love it that way, wouldn't have it any other way.  Doesn't mean I can't kick butt in my job, or step up and be serious, but day to day I love a laugh and the more time spent having fun the better.  I'm the first person you'll see in summer setting up a god ole slip'n'slide for myself or the kids, I hold regular massive (40-45m) slot car days at my house, and there's hardly a line spoken that can't be tweaked with a pretty decent joke, Daniel strikes me as similar like that!

Struggling to think of any. Maybe JEV because Dan beat him to the Red Bull seat?

Just to let you know that there is now a 2020 Renault team thread, so you can take current discussion there.

Looks like the ball is well and truly in Dans court. Its going to be a crazy season and thats just off track with contract talks for a start.

Also nice to see Dan trying to bring some extra motivation to the team. He also says he felt his garage wasn't as close to what he felt like being at Red Bull. Wonder what team building 'activities' he has in store.

"“We’re going to make a few people sweat as well and get them out of their limits and get them to reinsert some self-belief in themselves and get them to do something maybe they didn’t think they could do.”

Abiteboul believes Ricciardo could be onto something.

“Frankly, in my opinion there is no-one better than Daniel to bring everyone together and to bring this sort of positive energy,” he said.

“That’s why I am pushing him to talk about that — but not just talk, act.”"

I don't get that vibe at all. Way too early to be calling it like that. Lets put it this way it can't really get anymore underwhelming as a whole than last season. I think they will have well and truly pored over all the mistakes from 2019 in the off season and learn't from them as much as possible. Even just looking at the "Merc"esque nose gives me some hope they are on the right track this year.

Add the fact that Taffin is saying the engine is only bettered by Ferrari now

and there is reason that if they can get the baseline for the chassis right this time then things are looking positive for 2020. I just don't see them making the same errors as last year when previously before that the trajectory was well and truly on the up year after year.

Hopefully both drivers can up thier game too and operate at a consistently high level and also capitalise on any chances like for example Sainz did with McLaren in 2019.
