Enaam Ahmed has confirmed he can't raise funding to race in Europe, but has accepted a paid drive in Japanese F3.

Lawson with a dual old F3 - new F3 campaign, nice!

Also, shame about Ahmed and Palou losing the opportunity to continue racing in Europe.

I hope they aren't overloading him, he looks special, but at a pivotal time in his career, if he can't get on top in both categories it could dent his confidence and momentum....

I remember thinking a couple of years ago that Verschoor looked promising, and predicted seeing him in Red Bull colours near F1 in a few years... he let me down a bit but still hoping for something special, but really Lawson is the one to watch. He could be one of those "chosen ones".

My only concern is that MP isn't necessarily the best place for a strong championship campaign, but let's wait and see, Verschoor was pretty good with them last year as a stand-in driver. And I think earlier GP3 experience will be valuable this year, even though it's a new car/championship.

Very intrigued for Verschoor vs Lawson, the Red Bulk outcast vs the Red Bull newboy. Should make for a compelling scrap with both having something to prove.

This series has some serious talent this year.

Verschoor didn't really do a great deal 'wrong' though did he? He impressed in GP3 coming in mid-season. He's only 18, he can still make it. Red Bull are pretty brutal and I reckon Lawson is now the undisputed chosen one.

F3 is going to be great this year. Whereas F2 seems to be devoid of potential greats, F3 is full of them this year.

Results for FP seem a bit random, not quite correlating to what I was expecting in the pecking order... but it's just the first FP of the year, means nothing.

What I didn't know about, is that there's 30 cars!!  Madness.. pileups incoming?

This is easily the most exciting junior series of 2019 I think. Easily.

Really looking forward to following this all season, as much as the F1 to be honest.

This should be the target for all series. And yes, it means you still have a decent size field after the traditional first lap pile-up.

It seems like it, that is such a shame, can't see it now, the F3 field is much stronger as the F2 field and they're not broadcasting it?

What a strange and random results. If you asked me who are most talented drivers on the grid and favourites for title I would say Vips, Lawson, Drugovich and Yifei. But for whatever reason all four are absolutely nowhere in this first quali of the season. (11th, 19th, 20th and 22nd). What's going on?  :drunk:

I'd definitely add the ART guys (Lundgaard, Beckmann, Fewtrell) to that shortlist.

I have a feeling with a big grid the safety car might be needed a few times. Can someone show me the FIA F3 intro. Sky did show qualfying but 10 minutes behind

Just a reminder that race 1 will start tomorrow morning at 10:15 local time or 09:15 UK time.

With 30 cars on the grid I might as well share this fake spotter guide with livery and T-cam colours:

Hmmm, slow start for Lawson...... not just overall position in the order but slowest in his team.  This needs to be a one off if he truly is as special as he seems...

Shout out for Alex Peroni though, nice job for Campos!!!!

It'll be interesting to see the ART Prema battle.

Without Prema in the old GP3 ART won 8 out of 9 teams and 7 drivers titles

That aside the drivers lineup this year looks great.
