The 1000th GP deserves rain, two SCs, 9 DNFs and at least one shock podium finisher.

And it still won't be Hulkenberg.

what, 2018 China was Sebastian again?

2018 Bahrain was Sebastian too

just look at how the design deteriorated from 2018 anyways

First two sectors are just quick corners, final sector a huge straight. It's almost tailor-made for Ferrari if what we've seen so far is anything to go by, but we'll see I guess.

... at least one shock podium finisher.

Who is due for some success?

1) Pérez (make-good for Malaysia 2012)

2) Hülkenberg (can't have it all, Nico)

3) Kubica (#TheFeels)

Sounds like a fine podium!

Every single race weekend I tell myself "make an effort for the build-up thread" and I put it off and off and off... I was going to do it tonight but never mind :D

I generally think you get rather fun races at the Chinese GP, it's so DRS-tastic that t's a bit a of a free for all. I wouldn't want every race to be like it, but it has its appeal.

I keep encouraging people to bag them to take this sort of pressure off themselves! alternatively, why not put your OP into your above post? It will still be on the first page.

If I remember correctly, last year there wasnt too much overtaking until after the SC though?

Even before DRS, we had fun races.

Still love watching Hondas teaming up against the poor Heidfeld in the last lap of the 06 race.  :rotfl:

Well, it's live sport. You always get a few duds. Generally, the Chinese GP delivers.

So, this is what i want to happen:

- Insane amount of rain with Liberty saying: "Screw it, let them race!" which leads to....

- Both Ferraris, Mercs and RedBulls all crash into eachother @ the first corner

- Then Kimi wins the race, followed by Growjohn and Lance Stroll

- Autosport-boards are down for atleast a week.

BRING IT ON!

This is going to be a test of Ferrari power but less front downforce vs mercs better front end.

Who will keep the front tyres working for longer or will ferraris straight line advantage negate all

For this race I'd like to see a Racing Point 1-2, with either driver on the top step. The post race spins, and rationalizations, would be most entertaining.

How about a Haas 1-2? Then all the teams would have an F1 win in their history.

I'd be surprised if Merc don't finish 1-2 in both races in spite of this....I'd be more than happy to be wrong though.

I'd imagine they had the posters ready for production before Australia.

In fact, Liberty probably pressed a big red button somewhere which tampered with Leclerc’s engine in order to avoid retrospectively having to update all the posters.

I am expecting Ferrari to finally get it right and Leclerc to lead home a Ferrari 1-2 with Hamilton making up the podium, I really hope we see a close battle at the top between the two teams but I just expect Ferrari to be too quick. Unless the rumoured reliability issues me they drive with the engines turned down...

It is a shame the 1000th race is being held here. I would have preferred it to be Suzuka at least.

Any of those would have required messing up the calendar, which on any of those circuits with a full season of racing would have had knock on effects to all the other series that race there.

Obviously the correct answer is Silverstone, but the British Grand Prix in April is just asking for trouble from the weather.

Bottas said that next two races Ferrari is a clear favourite to win, their advantage on straights is over 0,4seconds and China and Baku have long ones.

They tried to get Silverstone to be the 1000th race, but the British weather would've just caused havoc. In the last week up here in Wales we've had glorious sunshine, snow, hail, glorious sunshine again, a massive downpour last night, and fog today.

To be fair I'd happily watch a Silverstone race with all of the above.

yeah, not a fan of the 1000th race being held in China. Should be Silverstone, would be the right thing to do. If they tried to make Silverstone happen on the 2019 calender and failed I won't judge them but something tells they just didn't care.

Just like Abu Dhabi is a terrible season closer in general, but hey there's probably a lot of money involved.

Also regarding the straights, Bahrain has two massive straights and two shorter ones, yet they couldn't shake off the Mercs as well as you'd expect. Merc might be able to hold on at the next two tracks, but it should favour Ferrari more.

Somebody should say this, I think.  I keep hearing about or reading references to the 1000th Grand Prix.  The Racing Point preview calls it ‘the 1000th Formula One race’.  Mention of the World Championship seems to have gone missing.  There haven’t been as many F1 races as there have been Grands Prix, but there have been more than 1000 of each - unless you are talking about F1 World Championship races.  I think we all know this, but I wanted to state it anyway.
