As an extra point here, in a way, this will actually be the 1001st race, but only the 1000th championship round, as the 1959 German Grand Prix was held over two heats.

The 1959 German GP was not the only two-part race.

The 1959 German GP was not the only two-part race.

However it was the only one which was purposefully held at two parts.

Agreed, but that doesn’t alter the fact that there have been several other two-part races. :)

It was two races, as opposed to a race halted and restarted.

I'm with Tim on this one. There was one result therefore one race.

He doesn't strike me as the type who would be bothered about what others think of him. I think he'll be just fine without changing his style.

He has only just changed his style in Bahrain.

That our Sebastian's mustache actually looks exactly like "Mansell's Mustache" that Suzuka sold at 2014 JPGP when he made special guest appearance, they made 555 copies of these and sold out on Thursday already iirc (no, I'm not making up story, it's true)

Maybe Sebastian secretly bought it and using it now

Merc on softs, Ferrari on meds and RB on Hards but all within 3 tenths of each other hmmmm

Doesn't make sense maybe the tires aren't working properly yet

Live Timing is all over the place. Max was on mediums , Leclerc as well and Hamilton on hards (not that this makes much sense either)

Didnt saw the others.

I saw yellow marks on Verstappen and Leclerc and white on Hamiltons, or were those practice pitstops?

I see, just turned in when they were wheeled in

But yeah, seems extremely unrepresentative either way.

This looks more realistic now, Red Bull two tenths off Mercedes on the same tyres, but Ferrari ahead on harder tyres....

Still only FP1 though, but Red Bull looks a bit more promising than recently at least?

Of course it is

Verstappen faster than Bottas

Bottas had a very weirdly slow 2nd sector, he would be close to Hamilton's level otherwise.

Though Verstappen didnt quite nail the last sector it seems.

But well, as mentioned, it's all still early days.
