In Abu Dhabi 2016? Vettel did attempt to overtake Rosberg, but it didn't work out. See here at 2:55

I remember this race very well

He didn't insist, he could pass him, he was way quicker that's why he run so close to him in the straight given the nature of the circuit and the battle (Hamilton literally on his brakes) . This is just an extract but if you watch the whole sequence, you'll notice it . Some insiders (french media) in F1 did report this to Vettel and he didn't deny it

He was quicker because Hamilton was blocking everyone.

A question for English viewers: I find Croft even worse than Netherlands 'own' Jack Plooij, the commentating dentist. I know not one (1) Dutch fan who can even mildly appreciate Plooij. I also know that RTL always pooh-poohs criticism about Plooij. And he comes back year after year after year.

How is Croft seen, in general, in my eyes like Plooij's long lost twin? Can anyone stomach his nick-name Crofty, for example?

It's a lot of bollocks which is prolific in cricket for some reason. What is the pronunciation of Plooij, Pluie? If so it's already got the bollocks suffix.

Besides that he was only quicker because of Hamilton's slow driving and that he probably tried his reasonably best, how exactly would "not intervening" in this battle show that he is a "good guy"?

because of Hamilton's slow driving

Yes, that's a fact. I'm not debating why he was quicker.
However, english is not my first language maybe i didn't express myself well

There is a debate here. Of course F1 is about fighting at 100% but if you look at history,at a time, an F1 driver can behave according to the exceptional context and it was exceptional in abu dahbi. Hamilton's blocking was far from having unanimous support.

Mercedes (Bottas fastest) vs everyone else

No, I don't make these graphs myself, it's FOM data and included in the official Friday press release -> https://twitter.com/...6805201920?s=19

inb4 Marklar tells us that the 200m mini-loops are unreliable and that Mercedes aren't actually third slowest in medium-speed :-)

Take it with a pinch of salt.

FOM data

I find this very hard to believe. So basically everyone is killing the mighty Mercedes in the medium speed corners? Really?

I still dont know how to read that graph! How is Bottas fastest when Ferrari has a lot more minus, than + on that chart?

I don't understand why people continue to post this. We already know it's grossly misleading.

Ployeux?

Imagine a Scotsman saying 'A devilish ploy,' and just after the last letter, he loses his upper dentures. Which, by the way, is an accurate description of Jack Plooij's voice. He has a sliight speech impediment (perhaps a cleft palate, repaired in his youth), for which he can not be blamed. But why oh why must someone be totally unprofessional in his journalistic work, talk horrible English and have this voice? It is like someone who is talking rubbish in a crowded elevator with an unpleasant voice to boot?

Anyway: I don't understand anything about the top-3 cars. How can the Red Bull be so close to the Mercedes and Ferrari on this power-track? The straight is almost from Beijing to SIngapore!

Better exit from the corner before the straight ? and aero setup ?

Shanghai is not a power track, it's a chassis track with 1 long straight. Bahrain is way more of a power track

Why the hell isn't Allard Kalff commentating in Holland. One of the best commentators around, has been for years.

Kalff stuck with RTL when they lost F1 and he still does various autosport programs for them; Dakar, Le Mans, WEC, etc.

The four parts of that graph do not each reflect 25% of the laptime.

I didnt know this F1 1000 banner was at the track side, thought it was somewhere in fan zone

So Gasly has to see and pass this Gasly-less banner every lap, poor Pierre :(

Maybe it's Marko who pressured and asked to remove Gasly from the banner, on the left of Verstappen is strangely void and there is awkward distance between Bottas and Verstappen, definitely Gasly was photoshopped out from there and Verstappen photoshopped to the right a bit to fill up the void

Gasly is embarrassingly slow in the RB. At the rate he's going, Kvyat or Albon will take his spot and he'll be relegated back to TR. Even with the mistake on the last turn, Verstappen was a second better.

If other RB drivers are demoted does that also trigger a win for Max, or does that only work with Kvyat?  If Kvyat is promoted back up, what could that portend for Max?

China is a front left limited track, not a power track. The only power tracks on the calendar are Monza, Spa and now Silverstone (as Copse and Abbey are now flat).

I just learned that the 1st Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, held at Silverstone, was not only the 3rd RAC British Grand Prix but also the 11th Grand Prix d’Europe.

Part deux (in which the engines are fired and the cars actually race):

Just put Ocon next to Max, and we'd be in for a dynamite season. Would be really fitting for the brand as well. Sparks flying. Red Bull has become so incredibly boring, they need to spice things up again.

I think Max vs Merc and Ferrari is a subplot that will be anything but boring.  Now it would be awfully nice to have a second hot shoe in the Red Bull for a 6 way battle.

Williams isn't half bad looking either.

Bottas has been driving beautifully all weekend, however.

p17 and p18 for Haas.   :rotfl:  but nahh doesnt look that bad when you look at the times who was on the table just before the crash that ruin Mag and Gro's final corner.

and they where tanked heavy on medium, with more then 11 laps where most others was only around half of that-

I dont reckon we will see Haas where we saw them on practice.

check sector times before final corner. they would have been elevated quite a bit.
