No telling. SPM should be a step up--they've found the pole before. And it's Indy--if you make the show, keep your nose clean, and are still in it in the last 50 laps, who knows?
Who foresaw Rossi's win? Or Wheldon's second?
Indeed but how did the car/guy that got pole in 2016 do in 2018?...
It’s a couple of steps up from last year. As long as SPAM lets SPM be SPM they may have a shot. That’s the unanswered question this early. Will SPM still be SPM or will McLaren gum up the works.

Also wouldn't be too much to ask from an organization like McLaren to LEARN from their past mistakes, and become a better team because of it. Take the best ASP have to offer, inject M's funding/resources/facilities, and bring on additional people where they are both lacking (Hampson & Co.). In theory, it could - and should - be very successful.

So, Bourdais and Kellett are now officially confirmed at Foyt sharing the #14 with TK.

Now all that's left to figure out is where will Hinch end up.

Some stuff I know.
Michael is still calling HPD/Honda left and right for Alonso. Alonso's mindset at the moment is "Andretti or watching it on TV with some beer". Problem is far more complex than the "GP2 engine" deal and it also includes far more recent issues.

Is Carlin even a thing at this point?

I think the RACER headline writer got ahead of himself--the story tracks the podcast.
What's the podcast say?

Yeah I don't get the impression at all that this is over.

Oh good god, yes, I can totally see them being tons more upset at that commercial than any of the old "GP2" business. Thanks for sharing that!

They are keeping quiet but the last thing we heard is that they're still planning two cars.

Silly season is never over! Why, I just saw an ungooglable source about Foyt that claimed:
-- In order to increase fan visibility of the driver in the new aeroscreened cockpit, the Foyt drivers will be wearing all white firesuits.
-- In addition, in order to allow the visor cams to have an unobstructed view above the aeroscreen, they will be mounted on new design helmets which will extend to a pointy top. They will also be white.
-- This change will only be applicable to Kanaan, Kellett, and Kimball.
I think I may have crossed a line from silly to actionable here.

Have you tried actually reading the words I wrote? I think the meaning is pretty clear.

Sorry for being aggressive, I read it like a sarcastic reply. Sadly it's not an argument that can be discussed without incurring in lots of blid fans and blind haters in the replies (that's also why I'm avoiding the other thread ).

I have no idea what you're talking about, I NEVER see sarcasm on the internet.

To be more clear, watching Fernando talk about how awesome the Yaris is makes ME want to vomit, let alone what it must do to the Honda execs.
The Yaris sucks.
Also, the Toyota Supra is neither a Toyota nor a Supra. Discuss.

was looking forward to having @alo_oficial competing again this year -

We are 3 days away from the SPAM launch by the way, they going to live stream it here

For a normal Yaris I agree. But this one is 257hp in a tiny 2822 lb car with a proper 6spd manual and fully adjustable 4WD! Sounds fun to me! Better than a new "Toyota" "Supra" for sure

It's probably been said before, but I was really hoping that Alonso's ties with Toyota would lead to Toyota joining Indycar. But that looks a lot less likely as time passes

A launch for Indycar? That’s right up there with screens for the garage...

We probably don't need the 2020 Indycar Silly Season thread anymore as most of the driver fun has concluded.
Please continue to speculate on what the hell is going on at Carlin, who's going to take part in the Indy 500 and any unresolved part-season entries in the 2020 season thread here:
