Right, because anyone outside F1 is just an amateur

Not at all. But half the grid are ex F1 rejects who just weren’t good enough. The driving standard in many parts, week on week, is dreadful for what is ‘supposed’ to be one of the benchmark motorsport series.

A team principal will (almost) always defend their driver in public.

If you'd put the current F1 field in these cars, on these circuits, it wouldn't have been any different.

Or didn't have enough money. Or the right connections.

It's always been such an F1-centric and damaging view that any driver who didn't make it to/in F1 is automatically worse than everyone who is/did.

Get over yourself.

Not the first time this year that Lopez makes an error then just loses his head completely.

Very strange, he was so cool in WTCC against Mueller and Loeb...

Sanya? Rome?

I feel sorry for these drivers. Absolute wealth of talent driving very challenging cars on tracks that punish the tiniest of mistakes and they get called amateurs for their efforts. I thought those two things were something people wanted to have back in motorsport - to stop with the easy to drive cars and car park run offs. But I guess not.

He's been pretty good in the WEC for the last year as well, he just seems to completely loose his head in FE.

Bear in mind there's a good number who do have it in for FE out there for whom nothing they ever do will be right. Normal logic doesn't apply...

Letting the track dry out might be a good idea...

Not just worse. It's always implying that somehow it's an entirely different level. Infuriating stuff, really.

I think the grid of Formula E is only second to F1. Lots of talent. And miles ahead of Indycar. And depth wise Formula E might even equal F1. Just the top guys in F1 are in a league of their own. But Giovinazzi, Albon, Gasley and Stroll have nothing on the Formula E guys.

It not the rain that causing the delay its due to FIA checking race order due to traffic jam red flag.

I really do think that F1, FE and IndyCar have a pretty similar mix of really really good drivers at the top and really solid drivers making up the rest of the field. Bit of local variation but on the whole quite similar.

It was just such a clumsy mistake that led to the pileup. Lopez was peerless in WTCC for three years (even though one could argue that for the most part he only had an aging Muller and subpar Loeb as competition), and has been largely terrible since. No idea what happened to him, but it needs to change.

These things happen on street circuits with a drying track. We'll be racing again soon.

If Indycar is 'this yellow should have ended 15 minutes ago', then Formula E is 'this red should have ended 15 minutes ago'.

The red flags are because the drivers know they can get away with ramming each other.

Surfer's Paradse, 1994 CART IndyCar season opener.

It lasted something like four hours and had to be ended because of... you know... darkness.

I think the grid of Formula E is only second to F1.

I'm not even sure if the current FE grid is the best FE grid we've seen in several seasons, let alone it being only second to F1.

Lot's of filler on this grid. I would only rate Buemi, Frijns, Di Grassi, Vergne.

I mean, the 1973 British GP had an end of lap one pile up and very long red flag delay before restarting. We're in good company I guess.
