Over at Autosport Plus, they have compiled a list of what they think might be Senna's 10 greatest wins and it looks pretty credible to me.

BTW, mods, I hummed and hah'd about whether to put this into TNF so please move it if you see fit.

I have an additional win in mind. It's almost totally unsung, it was lacking drama and I recall that Senna was not required to do any overtaking. So in the face of it... yawn.

I refer to the 1993 Australian Grand Prix at Adelaide. It was Senna's last win and Prost's last Grand Prix. All year, the Williams FW15C had been clearly faster than the McLaren with its customer Ford engine. Williams had won 10 of the 15 races so far and amazingly, Senna had not got a pole position all year.

But he nailed his first pole of the year in Adelaide.

For the first time in Adelaide, I had no official duties nor even a reserved seat, so for the race I found a spot close to the footbridge on Jones Straight and settled down for the race accompanied only by my stop watch. The race was, in my view, a masterclass of sustained, precision driving over every lap. The McLaren was the better handling car on the day but the Williams were very fast. Perhaps their pace was not optimised by Prost and Hill fighting for second place for a large part of the race.

But on and on Senna went, like a high speed metronome while the Williams warred and fought, with Hill finally spinning while trying to pass Prost.

I knew I'd seen a great drive that day; sadly Senna was no longer with us just a few months later.
