Moving house in a few months time, had Sky turned off this week in anticipation.

Been out with the kids, thought I’d watch the CH4 show later, but couldn’t stop myself checking on the BBC sport website while we were out. Know the result, so won’t bother now. May check for the stroll crash when f1 put their highlights online.

I’m not wanting to big myself up, but I’ve always watched the races live. If I was working I’d record them and watch them as soon as I got in... I’m not even bothered that I missed today’s race, and I never thought this day would come. I’ve watched pretty much every race live since 1997... I was what would have been described as a ‘hardcore fan’.

The Sky exclusivity is a huge part of that, but so is the stupid start times that we now have. Rather than showing it later, why not start the race at 11am or go the other way and have evening races that start at 5/6pm.

I wish I had the willpower to quit watching all together. Horrible racing, ugly cars, the halo makes the cars look silly and excitement has been gone for years.

As F1 moved from SportTV to Eleven Sports here in Portugal, I moved to F1TV instead.

Via the highlights video.

FOM getting that sorted has been the best change in years.

Since C4 lost the live races, I have and will continue to use Reddit's motor racing live streams / replays.

#*#% Sky.

I still follow F1, but only via the appropriate thread on this forum - I haven't actually watched a race for nearly three years now.

Honestly i am only paying attention to F1 when it shows up on my FB feed or on Youtube or twitter as soon as i read who is on pole or if anything happens crash wise or incident wise, its all over those channels fast. I can see what happens within minutes on Instagram or FB as it get's uploaded straight away. I have not watched any highlight's on CH4 so far & probably won't for the rest of season.

The tv graphics are the worst they have ever been,  chequered flag & the time counter graphic is barely readable i noticed at end of Q1  :dread:  :fp:

I typically will see the results the next day. If it was some kind of interesting race, i will then watch it. If it wasn't from what i read then i don't bother watching. Being in Canada most races are on at odd times. The days of me staying up late or getting up early to watch live are long gone. The races and seasons are just so predictable it's just not worth it.

The lack of free to air coverage has killed my interest in F1. Though since the 1990's & 2000-09 season reviews have been released on DVD i have been working my way those boxset's and its been great watching those dvd review's a lot of stuff i have forgotten about currently up too 2002 season. One of my fav F1 season review's

Other:

Reluctantly, and usually regret it afterwards.

More times now simply skip it, and never regret it afterwards.

Here in Hungary there is a free live coverage. I don't have a TV, but I could view it through an Android app in FHD. But one of the commentators is a complete moron so I watch the Sky coverage instead through an illegal app. But only the quali and the race, no FP1,2,3; prerace or postrace.

Watch it on the ESPN app on my Roku or on my laptop, though tbh this season I haven't made it through a single race without just skipping to the end once Merc have a clear lead. Bahrain was an exception.

I wont go as far as saying it killed my interest. I can live without watching F1 live. And no way will I fork out my hard earned to pay SKY for the privilege of watching racing cars going round in circles!

US Viewer. I usually DVR it on Playstation Vue, and if there’s no apparent battle for the win, I skip all but the parts of a lap except where they’re in an overtaking area unless there’s an incident or a pit stop. Watched all of Barcelona in about 15 minutes and felt like I missed nothing.

Now, the Indy GP yesterday on the other hand... one of the best road course races I’ve ever seen, in the vein of China/Hungary 2006 or 2011. Absolutely 100% watch that if you can.

+100. Such a fantastic last 15-20 laps. Also, the cars are much slower but they look better, they pitch and squirm, they're smaller, and they sound better than F1. Not sure why I bother watching GPs at all when Indy and IMSA are far better on-track products.

I follow the live races on the radio so I can be around here at race time. The racing itself is pretty samey for the most part so I don't usually follow up with the TV highlights.

ORF in Austria broadcasts for free and you can watch it via their website too. Even though I do not understand German much but still it's a good to have free service.

Commentators are Alexander Wurz and some other guy. The stream is really good quality

^^LMAO great one!

I hardly watch the races these days, compared to 20 years ago. These days, the first 5 laps will already determine the podium. There's nothing really. I watch the highlights on the FB page, cramming a 1 hour 30 mins of snoozefest into 5 mins. easy.

So yesterday, I watched to first five laps of so on Nigerian, until I decided to go to work early and didn't watch any more of the race. Everything else this year I have watched the youtube highlights.

Not that long ago I used to watch ALL races and most quali's live and in their entirety. I hope that Liberty are reading this and read these comments. Your sport is not worth 600 pounds a year. I suspect that by the time F1TV comes to the UK the sport will not be worth a hundred pounds a year.

Sky Sports here in the UK, I watch a lot of other sports though so even without F1 I'd still have that subscription so in essence I don't pay "extra" for it I guess.

I think it would be better if it was on free to air though, not for my personal finances as it wouldn't make a difference to that, but because I think more people watching F1 is a good thing.

I watched Sky 1 in bed for the first two races via the app that comes with my virgin V6 box. The rest I've been travelling out and about and couldn't even find decent coverage of Spain on BBC Radio 5 Live or Extra so I was in the car (as a passenger) following it via autosport.com web updates. I forgot the start until 15 minutes in.....that's where my interest level is these days. For the remainder of the season, if I am at home I'll use the Nigerian Connection. No way am I forking out what Sky is asking.

I'm back to watching the German broadcast on RTL. No way am I giving money to a company so they can spend fortunes on preventing the fans from getting access to content.

Sky Go, but it is so far behind that I can no longer write on the forum race thread

No idea why the race started at 2pm, but it starts to eat into my day the later it goes

I've watched all races on PPV since it went to Sky, I feel I get it pretty cheap as I'm on the legacy Sky HD deal which included the F1 channel "for free" when it came out - though that's a little frustrating nowadays as I can't change my package at all without risk of losing F1.

When the content first came to Sky, I would put time aside to watch all of the build ups, F1 shows, etc and would generally make a weekend of it when there was a Grand Prix on. Now I'm more likely to tune in towards the end of the grid walk or more often then not, watch it a few hours later on a recording due to some dinner commitments or whatever... I'm certainly not planning my diary around F1 anymore.

All that stuff you said...

That's pretty much me too. I flicked thru the Ch4 highlights last night for about 5mins. Just watched the start and the finish.
From boy to man (and back to boy again), I wouldn't miss a live quali or race. Now I'm only here out of habit.

I have around 15 years worth of autosport mags up in the loft from early 90s to late 00s, altho I lost a few years in a flood.
I might get them out and watch an old race every few weeks and re-read the news all again, F1 and Cart come to think of it. Re-live my yoof :p

It could be a good thing for sky or Ch4, or whoever, to broadcast a vintage season, or perhaps several (69, 79, 89, 99 etc, choose where you want to start) in parallel with the current season, together with some news and happenings of the time. Some nostalgia for us old farts and some history for younger fans..

What do you mean "ilicit internet stream"?
