Yes, another round of testing. The teams are staying in Barcelona.

Tuesday and Wednesday with the following drivers:

Mercedes: Valtteri Bottas, Nikita Mazepin
Ferrari: Charles Leclerc, Antonio Fuoco
Red Bull: Pierre Gasly, Dan Ticktum
Renault: Nico Hulkenberg, Jack Aitken
Haas: Kevin Magnussen, Pietro Fittipaldi
McLaren: Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Sergio Sette Camara, Oliver Turvey
Racing Point: Nick Yelloly
Alfa Romeo: Kimi Raikkonen, Callum Ilott
Toro Rosso: Daniil Kvyat, Alexander Albon
Williams: Nicholas Latifi
Pirelli: Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc
Pirelli: Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll

updates will be provided through the various liveblogs on the websites of the major publications.

And as tradition, this forum will look only at the leaderboard and start claiming who's 'better' based on non-relevant data.  :smoking:

Well I think the Mercedes somehow not on the top of the timing sheets. Giving us hope so they could crush our souls with another 5 1-2 finishes.

Only question is how much more will Mercedes gain relative to their opposition after this test? 0.1 - 0.3?

I could've sworn Nick Yelloly raced in AutoGP at some stage, but apparently (Google and Wikipedia) not. Perhaps I just saw a yellow AutoGP car and the mental records became corrupted. A name I haven't heard in a while, anyway.

Do McLaren really need four drivers for one test?

Who would you have expected to see there?

Some midfield teams needs mileage on the updates.

That's all really. Not a very interesting session.

Well, I don't know. I guess they don't have any juniors that qualify for young driver testing, so it makes sense. Just surprised me a bit.

Personally, I would have expected Ocon. What exactly is his purpose with the team, at this point?

EDIT: Actually, they probably need a benchmark active driver, and Lewis isn't interested in testing. Then since it's Bottas, they can't put Ocon directly against him, or risk denting the confidence of one or both drivers. This was probably the best lineup.

EDIT2: Clarified below. Thanks, Anja.

It's a rookie test, they need someone with no more than two races of F1 experience.

I guess the Merc junior program is done then, because otherwise why would you put Mazepin in that car right now. So, it's basically now HAM, BOT, OC and RUS as ''Mercedes drivers''.

The fact that they have no other drivers coming through the ranks would indicate to me that Mercedes are still considering their ongoing participation in motorsport - at least traditional motorsport, anyway.

How did Nick Yelloly end up in the Force India Racing Point? I know he has been racing Porsche cups the last couple of years. Has he been a secret F1 simulator driver too?

They recently announced two karting drivers in their young driver program though

No rookie available perhaps. Perhaps there is an Ebay for drivers to auction of test seats?

Track Marshall: Do you want to know what I think? I think you’ve got a very vivid imagination.

Bottas:I wasn’t trying to steal a traffic cone!

TM: I’m not saying you’re stealing it. I’ve not said that. Why are you saying that? Why are you saying steal?

VB: Because to an innocent bystander, it could – may – look like traffic cone theft. And I am an innocent bystander, and to me it looks like traffic cone theft.

Hm, tyres on gptoday.net are misleading completely then. But this time for the good.

Tyre adjusted, Sainz is very close to McLaren's Q2 time.

Also, not bad pace from Latifi.

I think the tyre color on gptoday means the current tyre, not the one used on the fastest lap.

Yes, it certainly is while they are on track but i thought once they pit they put the tyre color with which the best time is set. And they recolored it now accordingly after Pirelli info.

I find the combination of Yelloly's name and tyre choice strangely comforting.
