Some people take this discussion way to seriously - it's just a joke ! ;)

US car racing is a local thing, it doesn't compete internationally and doesn't pretend to do so .

So why the fuss ?

Let the yanks enjoy their racing, like other local motorsport audiences do all over the world .

If you're interested in more advanced racing, watch F1 and WRC , motoGP if 2 wheels are your thing .

US car racing is a local thing,

When you have one big country compared to several small countries it's much easier to have something "local".  Because your countries are comparatively so small you have to band together to get any scale.  How are those BTCC ratings doing outside the UK?  I'd reckon as many people watch lawn mower racing over here as watch BTCC in the UK.  Outside of Germany who really watches DTM?  I like it as well at BTCC but outside of their respective native lands they aren't that popular.  F1 is the exception as it's pretty popular around the world but get outside of Europe and WRC isn't that big.

DRS = Definitely Reduces Skill. If a series must have a tool like DRS to compensate for its homoerotic love affair with surface generated downforce, then let the driver choose where and when he or she shall employ said tool. The brave ones shall attempt an entire lap with DRS activated and shall spin off....or win. The skilled ones will employ it wherever and however often they feel it's advantageous. Let the driver decide, not some track designer.

That's what the J-switch/F-duct did in 2010. But then the teams agreed to a ban and to replicating the effect with FIA-regulated DRS for which the FIA race director has an on/off switch.

That's just the kind of free-thinking, engineering spirit and competitive desire to out-do opponents that's so characteristic of the pinnacle of motorsport. :p

And now the winner of Le Mans is someone who couldn't even make the top 33 at Indianapolis.

Yet he finished well ahead of some multiple IndyCar champions.

But that's the fault of socialism.

In other news, and a great boost to F1's status, ex-Minardi driver, and zero-points-scorer Gianmaria Bruni just made short work of the best Indycar supposedly has to offer.

Alonso will never manage to win the Indy 500, you can print this post for posterity.

Back on topic, we had a great 24h of Le Mans overall, a shame Toyota had no competition, though. WEC can't topple F1 as it is today. Perhaps, come 2021, things might be different.
