It'll be interesting to see what happens, next time Lewis does "the same"...

I am not a fan of Lewis but I have to respect him for saying that.

And dare I say that had the boot been on the other foot, the 2019 Lewis Hamilton would not have reacted in the petulant fashion of the 2019 Sebastian Vettel. The 2009 Lewis Hamilton might have done. I've followed his career for about 15 years now and seen a young man who has made a few mistakes along the way; but who amongst us hasn't? :)

Despite all Lewis's bling and his 'celebrity lifestyle' - which seems to annoy some people - I now view him as both, as Doug puts it, 'The Racer' and a man very much at ease with himself in his own skin who knows what he wants to do with his life now and in the future. Whereas Vettel's career puts me in mind of Harold Wilson's pithy comment on Tony Benn. ;)

I think it was 2003 that Barry Boor and I stopped for a meal on the way home from the Festival of Speed. The Moto GP had been held that day at Donington and there was a group of Rossi fans on the next table, also on their way home, celebrating his victory. We had to tell them - it was the first they had heard of his 10 second penalty relegating him to third.

If instead of Vettel and Hamilton in 2019 it had been Brabham and Surtees in '67 (or any season where the two of them might have diced for the lead) then I wonder what the various reactions would have been.

2019 Lewis has had the best car in the grid for how many years? Whenever things do not go his way, the 'red mist' comes back quickly, just as in any normal racer.I wonder what the present FIA would have made of a Piquet vs Salazar, or of a Senna vs Schumacher/Irvine.

As for Vettel, for all his real or perceived faults, he's anything but immature. In fact, from the current lot, he seems to be the one most 'at ease with himself'. Just my thoughts, of course.

It would have been ignored and not even made it in the race report. If there had been a collision that is a different matter but as it happened it would not have been a newsworthy incident.

One big difference is that had one shoved the other nearly off track it would have been futile, because overtaking later was not just possible, but likely...

Whichever one did the Vettel excursion would have been careful to avoid the other when returning to the track because had they collided, it would have been likely to have ended in one or both dying or suffering serious injuries.

I went through this thread another time but either I didn't read it good enough and havemissed it but otherwise??

Brazil 2003, Fisichella? Win awarded to Kimi initially...

When I post this the final decison on Austria 2019 has not been made public yet but will LeClerc join Fisichella as one of those drivers who was not on the op spot of the podium after what eventually became his first GP victory????
