Hi Arjan, unfortunately not. Being launched at Race Retro.
Book has now been written and has literally just been submitted to the publisher so it's now on stage two.
I can try and have a life again for a short while...

Hi all,

Well, it’s starting to become reality. I thought you would all like to know that the book is now available to pre-order from the publisher. Please find the link below:

 https://www.performancepublishing.co.uk/richie-ginther-motor-racings-free-thinker.html

It is due for publication in mid-February 2020 but it makes sense to publicise and set it up now so you can spend your Christmas money on it!

To answer a few questions first now I know a bit more detail.

Will I be at the Goodwood MM?

Tentatively, yes. The publisher has a link up with some traders at Goodwood and we’ll try and tie this up nearer the time. I have committed to one day, either the Saturday or the Sunday. We’ll know how more likely this by late-February I’d imagine.

Size of the font?

It took a bit of persuasion, but yep, it’s the same size font as in Absolute Lotus magazine and most other publications they do.

I'd like to thank you for the interest in the book so far and apologise (only a little bit) to anyone who is in the same number of groups as I am in Facebook as I’m going on a publicity offensive imminently.

Richard

Richard, I know precisely how debuting one's own book feels and Congratulate you from the bottom of my heart!

I love the book already. The subtitle is great, as are the cover and the intro. Splendid, we'll order one in Spring when home a few days, read it immediately, and store it indefinitely.

You know, you debut authors here are ignoring that we live in a van without room for books, yet you keep announcing books anyway. How gauche, now we have to tow a library trailer and it's *all your fault*. ;-)

Well done Richard, I'm really happy for you!

Congratulations on your huge achievement, Richard. Having just seen the fruits of the last nine years of labour come together with my Lauda book, I can say with hand on heart there is nothing like the thrill of holding a copy of your own book in your hands. Based on some of our conversations, I am looking forward to reading some of the amazing anecdotes you have uncovered as well as seeing the many unpublished photos.

BTW - the cover is fabulous!

Good luck with the sales - I'm sure it will go well. See you at Race Retro!

While others live in houses with floors and rafters sagging beneath books and mags. When my copy of Richie Ginther: Motor Racing's Free Thinker arrives, I shall move out into a van.

I'm not sure quite what font size that is, but based on my experience with Stephen South: The way it was I woulkd advise all potential buyers to handle the book and check they can read it.

It's much larger font than the Stephen South book. There's a number of reasons why the SS book had to be the size it was but out of courtesy to Darren, I won't explain here. If it helps overcome your concerns, I'll see if I can send you a proof page next month.

I’m mustering all my willpower and holding off ordering my copy in anticipation of picking it up in person at Members’ Meeting.

Thanks both of you

Jack

It's still the plan to go to MM. I'll know more at Race Retro about that. I'd like to meet up as you've been such a key supporter for this for so long.

Timeline - not long to go. The book is now at the printers as of yesterday. Dispatched to me and the publisher on the 14th and dispatched to anyone who has pre-ordered and the reviewers on the 17th Feb.

But a lot of people will see it for the first time at RR.

The book is now a living breathing thing (as it were).

For those on Facebook, I've uploaded a video for a sneak peak. D-Type, not sure if you're on FB, but just for you, I've zoomed in a little bit (forgive my poor videoing skills) so that you can see the text but if not, I have no doubt you'll have no trouble reading it.

The link to the FB page is https://www.facebook...hiegintherbook/

The link to buy is https://www.performa...ee-thinker.html

The book will be dispatched over the next few days so any British-based buyers will get it on the 19th, not sure how quickly other countries will receive it.

There's a week of spending time with the family before it's all go go go from Race Retro onwards.

I can only hope that people enjoy it  :D
