I don't quite understand the claims of Ricard being boring circuit. I understand some may not like its appearance, but racing wise it provides good action all around. There are multiple overtaking possibilities: Pit straight and the next winding straight, Mistral part 1, Mistral part 2, Signes turn, Beausset turn. Also the S-turn combination leading to Mistral part 1 is one of the best entries to straight to provide good fights. It was also nice to have several battles in Signes this year. If there was something specifically boring in the race, for sure it was domination by silver cars. But you can't really blame the circuit for that.

The hypnodrome claims another soul.

A lot of the boredom stems from the cars more than the track (which is downright ugly), it would be interesting to see how the early 2000 cars would race on this track to see if they are any better.

Did you consider that Lewis is actually able to take the car to the edge, consistently, throughout the race, which IS the hard part.

He drove his fastest lap at the end of the race, that car still has more performance in it but Mercedes can sit back and relax most of the race.

So yes Lewis was going for the Hollywood drama again.

You know F1 is in a dire state, when even the official highlights clip is boring.

So besides Mercedes domination, was the problem lack of racing/overtaking?

I saw reasonable amount of action there and remember a lot worse GP's than this. In my opinion, its certainly better than Barcelona, for instance.

But yes, generally the racing in F1 is not so great these days.

France was never going to be a great race so it was always going to attract a lot of criticism. And it has.

Entitled millennials moaning about anything nowadays.

Whatever Lewis says, somewhere, some random nobody will get offended. Its fine.  :rotfl:

Does he know how downright ridiculous he sounds?

Not half as much as those who complain here.

Meanwhile, back in 2013: https://www.bbc.com/...rmula1/24428367

This is a bit of a sad post. Did you think you had a 'gotcha' moment or something, or did those words hurt and leave a mark back then?

Well, here you are, for what he said this weekend.

He said he had really enjoyed his battle in Canada after hounding Sebastian Vettel throughout the grand prix, despite only winning because of his rival's five-second penalty.

Hamilton added: "Those are the races that generally people enjoy most. These ones [the French GP] are not the ones people enjoy most.

"I think it's important for people to realise it's not the drivers' fault. This is a constant cycle of F1 for years and years and years, even before I got to F1.

"It's because the way Bernie [Ecclestone, ex-F1 boss] had it set up, the decisions they were making back then. It's still the same and until that [rulemaking] structure changes it will continue to be the same in my opinion.

"That's not my job to do that. My job's to come here and do the best I can as a driver."

I know, it's therapeutic to lash out at him. But ironically for all of the whining, he tends to share the opinions of most fans about boring races, and the direction the sport needs to go in. He said the 2016 rules were bad for the fans, that sticking the coverage behind a paywall was a mistake. But by all means carry on. :) Just don't expect him to be letting up either.

I am also bored of Merc's dominance, but seeing people lose their minds about Hamilton just because he keeps winning is actually pretty entertaining. May his reign continue for long so that I can witness more salt

Not at all. I was pretty much pointing out a curiosity in reaction to the comments my post responded to. How Lewis used to be where we are but now that he's winning it's "everything's on the edge", how perspective changes things. But I'm not blaming him for it, every driver in his position would be saying the same and I have nothing against him specifically.

Hamilton can be exceptionally cringy but it's not his fault he's a good driver.

I would actually argue that it is his fault! Pretty sure he worked hard to become that good!
