I subscribe to a few tech channels on YouTube.  And one of them, Techmoan, has just posted a video about a 50 year old radio with a built in 46 hours of audio tape storage.  As this thing is old, it's not been used since the late 70s, and some audio from it is demonstrated at the end.  And what was chosen?  Simon Taylor's report from pretty much straight after the 1977 Belgian Grand Prix  (no Purley mentions, sadly).  Link below, starting at the relevant section (but viewing the whole video is recommended, if you have half an hour to spare) :

Hear hear. I was there and can confirm what Simon Taylor said about the results confusion. Towards the end of the race I was standing next to some young Belgian lads who had been keeping a lap chart, and they were quite confident that Hans Stuck was leading the race.
