What Happened Last Year (Cliff Notes version)
JoNew on pole with Dixon leading over half the race.

Typical Indycar action

Familiar victor (not our Victor)

The Indycar wayback machine takes us to Mark Blundell’s win in 1997. An upstart driver earned his first pole at that race. Can someone tell me how to embed the video?

2019
Expect to see the current strongmen vying for the top spots, that is, any Penske driver, Dixon, and Rossi. Hinchcliffe could be up there too, he was good last year and he has the Wickens factor behind him. Speaking of whom will be driving with hand controls in a badass Acura NSX, modified by Arrow. The question is, will Robert complete more laps than Sage in a Carlin?

Detailed Track Map
TOR-Sections.jpg

Indycar track blurb: The tight 11-turn, 1.786-mile Exhibition Place street circuit offers great views of downtown Toronto and often leads to cars attempting to squeeze past each other in turns. Many times, only one car makes it out unscathed. The long frontstretch leading into the Prince's Gate at Turn 1 and the Lakeshore Boulevard straight leading into a hard 90-degree right-hander at Turn 3 are the best places for overtaking.

Hinch does seem to come alive for this race.  And fun fact--Marco has finished in the Top Ten each of the last three years.  Now granted, two of those were 10th, but you could do worse.

I realised today that I've now been posting ill-thought out nonsense on this forum for over a decade. How depressing. I look forward to spending the entirety of this Sunday doing the same.

Better out than in?

Or does that rule of thumb not work in this context?

I love this race, mostly because it was on the calendar when I started watching Indycars almost 30 years ago

That 1997 race was the first I saw here. Mark Blundell at the height of his success. Great stuff and the track has hardly changed since then.

Three car mess in USF2000 first practice. Red flag. Hopefully not a weekend omen.

Mark me down for Wickens over Karam in laps completed!

I don't think Karam will go out on lap 1, he's not Maldonado. Maldonado isn't even Maldonado...

...BUT, I do think we should make picks on who it is that Karam runs into, with when (what lap) being a tie-breaker. We can wait until qualifying is set to peruse the grid to select his most likely victim(s).

Sorry folks, you can blame me for that; Rossi is among the unfortunate souls to be my picks this weekend.

They have given Santino Ferrucci the visor cam: https://twitter.com/...728759148425216 The track looks even bumpier than Silverstone!

Looks like a lot more work than in 1997.

As usual went to fan Friday with my eldest, was a good day.

Sat right on turn 11 and it's a ****ing mess. Super bumpy, different surfaces from asphalt to co create to mystery surface, water grates, sewer caps.....jeeeeezus. saw 2 IndyCar's and 2 porsche cup cars lose it there when not really pushing.

Sage karma's car looked AWFUL through there, like visibly ****. Not riding the bumps at all. His hands were working overtime

Also I swear Pagenaud's monochrome livery this weekend is a meta-dig at his normal Menards eyebleed.

I second that. The track is embarrassingly bad through 9-10-11.

I hope Sage surprises with success. But because I picked him, that is guaranteed not to happen.

Headed down to the track soon, weather is nice but’s it’s supposed to rain around qualifying time.

Also very stoked to see the stadium trucks! Will post some pics If my phone doesn’t die.

Have a blast, Mike! Trucks are a riot, they catch NASA-class air.
