Vettel to blame. Almost identical to Ricciardo on Max at Baku.

Wasn’t much weaving here. Vettel just slammed into him. 100% on Seb

As dangerous as Verstappen's defensive driving usually is, Vettel simply drove into the back of him on this occasion. His errors are beginning to look like a terminal decline.

Really any need for this one? Rather cut and dry, don't you think?

Quite clearly Vettels fault. Ruins his and Verstappen's race. Stupid move.

I take fault with a lot of what Max does, but could be here all day and would only see the bloke in the Ferrari forgetting where the brakes are.

No need whatsoever for this thread, it was 100% clear. Vettel bassically ruined the race not only for Max but us fans as wel.

This thread will just attract the usual suspects somehow trying to pin it on Max regardless.

Can hardly see how Verstappen was wrong. Vettel drove into his back after a misjudgement of braking, and that too while Vettel was moving, not Verstappen. I can see no movement from Verstappen through Vettel onboard camera.

Racing incident to me.

You guys seem obsessed with overjudging and dishing penalties. Let them race.

Max made a defensive move and kept that direction, I didn't see any weaving there. Seb's fault for sure.

Giving a 10 second "penalty" after that makes no sense. Investigate after the race and give a grid penalty

I start threads like this where it’s likely other stories/developments might happen. If it doesn’t, it will just wither on the vine!

Why not a thread on Leclerc's dangerous defending against Max? He got away with it but still if it would be the other way around it would be 10-pages already.

Vettel clearly at fault... Quite surprised there is a even a poll & a discussion about it. It's like the ABC of driving... The one who is behind is always to blame if he crashes in the car in front of him.

I said identical to Ricciardo but Ricciardo does have a slightly bigger gap to go for. The end result is remarkably similar though.

I'm clearly not a Verstappen fan, but how on Earth could that be on him?! It's Vettel having his now signature brain fade here, whenever he loses a position / race he thought was his.

for a 4-time world champion, I don't think I've ever seen a more clumsy wheel-to-wheel racer as Vettel

very poor, many incidents to choose from now over the years

Thanks for the link.

Is there a head on camera shot? The view from the Ferrari is obviously not stationary, which makes it a bit tricky to see exactly how both cars position themselves.

Vettel was far too optimistic, looking for a gap that only existed for a few milliseconds. He took an enormous risk and it turned out the space wasn't there.

Max's movements weren't significant enough to point the blame to him, though they didn't help. Either way Vettel drove straight in the back, that's usually pretty clear.

The more interesting aspect is the desperation at Ferrari. We had Leclerc not wanting to concede at any price in Austria, Leclerc being super aggressive here, Vettel being a total dick. What's with the red mist at Ferrari? Are the drivers and team this insecure, or this much under pressure?

It's starting to become silly with all the unforced errors, comical strategy calls, idiotic driving errors and knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory....

What was it last race? Causing a collision, running others off was "good racing" according to the FIA race director?

On the onboard above Verstappen seems to run outside the track again, another classic move by him.

These knuckleheads all deserve each other.

Ultimately the horrific level of F1 stewarding is to blame. Driving standards in F1 are a joke.

It's been like that for years though. They need to have penalties where you take from one and give to another. And maybe those penalties should reflect the loss. So, maybe here give Vettel a 60 second penalty and transfer those 60 seconds to Verstappen. Or transfer championship points from one to the other.

I think Vettel is now in the same headspace as Lewis in 2011; the desperation for another title that keeps being out of reach has clouded his judgement.

Vettel on Sky Germany: First, after MAx was through, I thought that was it, but then he made a slight mistake and I tried to come back.

Interviewer: Was that your fault did you have too little patience?

No, I tried to explain, I thought he'd drive back to the right, at least to the middle of the track, but then he didn't and it was too late

He drove onto the run-off in Austria... how's that for being 'any price'. He basically just gave up.

And Ferrari have nothing to lose. Everything that isn't a title is a bad year anyway, and nobody except Hamilton/Mercedes is going to win the titles this year. That's been pretty obvious since March.

They were pretty much the only entertainment during the race, yet you want them black flagged for fighting. It seems some people really do want a boring Formula 1.

To answer the threads main question 100% Vettel's fault. Sad to say as a fan of his, but his racing skills have been shocking over the past year.
