Not sure thunder would be the issue, lightning yes, thunder I'm less sure (but I'm not 100% sure on that by any stretch)
Thunder is the sound caused by lightning which are high voltage (electrostatic)discharges

I think it's "LeclerC".
I think 'It is I, LeClerc'

Umbrellas going up and drivers starting to use windscreen wipers in the Porsche race......
Right on cue

Ah yes that's a good point!
Though I'd imagine they'd try as much as possible to have a standing start, even if it means a couple more laps of SC.
Personally I'd prefer a few more SC laps then a standing start than getting going quicker but with a SC restart
Actually not too bothered because the start is potentially far less important in the wet. Apart from the leader getting the advantage of no spray I guess.

If the rain is heavy enough to start on wets, then chosen start tyres becomes irrelevant. Maybe RB were banking on this when they ran the slicks in Q2

Red flag in the Porsche race because everybody is on slicks.
I hope they did that just to allow everyone safely to change tyres. In those cars tyre change isn't as easy as it is in single-seaters.
Edit: The race will not be resumed.

I think we should be hopeful. Can't recall when it rained heavily in Europe for 3 hours!

3 hours too early, that sort of rain would have been interesting in the F1 race.

They ran the slicks with Max because on their first attempt in Q2 Max had a PU issue and for his second attempt they had no mediums left.

I guess that was the plan but now they ran out of race time.I hope they did that just to allow everyone safely to change tyres. In those cars tyre change isn't as easy as it is in single-seaters.

Indeed. Will be bone dry later no doubt

And heavy showers at the podium ceremony of course.

Temps should peak at 23C, so it might take the track longer to dry. Could be damp for the race start!

Still 3 hours before they get to the grid though. Plenty of time for it to change.
More like plenty of time for it to carry on raining

There is a easy way to find out if it will be wet.
If Ferrari goes for a dry set up it will be wet.
If they go for a rain set-up it will be bone dry

Weird, the race result has been taken from the end of lap 7 when the rain started falling.

Does that always counts are only when hospital is more then some miles/time away? If hospital is driving equal fast as when flying, then still counts?
The issue might be two-fold. Unsafe for the helicopter, which you need in the wet because there's increased danger of a serious accident. Also, you don't want a fan dying in the stands from a lightning strike. They stop sporting events in the US if lightning is within a mile or so of an open-air stadium. Too much liability.

It will rain during the race, this is just the start of the rain.

yeah, right, let's do the podium first before confirming the result, that's so smart

The track is wet, yes but not wet enough for the rain tyre option for F1 in my view

Very strange decision, the result was so early that it was not due to countback either.
Half points?

Wet races are great and all but I hope there's a chance of it being held in mixed conditions and not just wet throughout. Make the drivers pick between slicks, inters and wets, you know?

Don't kick a man when he is....
Question: how often the polesitter did win the race when the start was behind the safety car?

It is essential to see weather/pressure chart like this to make meaningful forecast.
Seems Hockenheim is bit in a pressure valley, that's why forecast keep changing and varies between different weather services.
In a pressure valley means influx of moisture and collision of different temp airs, so very local rain cloud can develop sporadically and out of nowhere, but it's difficult to predict if it will actually rain, when and how much unlike low pressure systems and fronts which is easy to predict.

Think so Bleu, nearly al motorsport series say you have to do X% of a race, usually 50% of 75%. Not sure what the Porsche Cup series regulations are.

Lewis vs Max in the rain is not allowed. We will have a slightly damp start and then fully dry for the remainder. The only thing that gets wet is Davis Croft's tight fitting t-shirt.
Enjoy your Sunday fellas.

Who didnt run slicks in Q?
