I can't see this getting huge headlines when it takes place. Nor will it be a cheap weekend for competitors.

Designed to be the motor sport equivalent to the Olympic Games, the FIA and SRO Motorsports Group announced the event would launch in 2019, with the entry process officially opening in July.

The Games will be held at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy from October 31 through to November 3.

GT, touring cars, F4, drift, karting slalom and esports are the six disciplines that drivers will compete in, with one entrant per category sought to represent each participating nation.

Entries will be required to provide their own vehicles with the exception of the F4, karting and esports categories.

Accommodation and travel expenses will both be down to competing drivers to organise individually.

I can see this being a huge FLOP and quietly disappearing... if it even happens the first time.

I don't think that an SRO-organised series will struggle to find moneyed drivers to compete.

Whether the drivers will actually be any good is another matter.

Over the past few years I've learned not to immediately write off new motorsport things that seem like completely mad, unfeasible ideas.... so...um, well... good luck to the FIA/SRO with this one I guess.

Bring your own GT? Your own Touring Car?

To what rules? There can be as much as 20 seconds per lap difference from one competition to another in touring car racing. Even within a single comp there can be several seconds per lap difference from the front to the back of the grid.

Surely there should be a spec car like in F4? In fact, it would make more sense to say bring your own F4 as that is actually run to a spec set of rules...

Race of Champions is already going downhill, I don't see how this can get anywhere near the heights that ROC reached..

I'm guessing they're trying to tap in to the ESports money being generated. It'd look well for a premium ESports team to field an actual car with one of their racers and win without having to front the cash for multiple campaigns in a racing series.

"GT, touring cars, F4, drift, karting slalom and esports" sounds like your average club meeting at Croft for a tenner.

I actually think it is a fabulous idea.

Grouping together all different types of motorsport is a truly brilliant idea.

Far too many fans I think are very "their fave thing" centric, be it F1, WEC or MotoGP etc.  This has the potential to introduce people to lots of types of racing at one location

Done on the right scale, at various venues worldwide,  it could be a revolutionary.
