No I definitely meant 2017, when F1 swtiched to a wider cars on fatter tyres and all that, and the top 3 teams remained the same, and the midfield battle remained the same.

Incredible

In a discussion how minor change cannot change pecking order you enter minor change that did not change pecking order.

Nothing changed from 2014 till today. Nothing.

Except the sinking of the Williams from 3rd to 10th.

2017 was one of the biggest regulations changes ever in the sport, on a par with the 1998 changes which were very much the opposite. I used 2017 as an example to show that even a major change won’t automatically change the pecking order. Basically that there’s no correlation.

Ok. If "major" change did not reshuffle anything, why are you arguing Benetton from 1996?

Stop hateing on Michael guys

And accept his magnificentness, because him along with the GDTERTP (Greatest Driver That Ever Roamed This Planet) is one of the kind. And we were blessed to witness their greatness during our lifetime at almost the same time span. One on circuits and the other one out on the stages.

God really blessed us.

I was only pointing out that there was quite a significant change in the regulations from 1995 to 1996. A change that mean't you couldn't guarantee any performance continuity from one season to another. Williams and Jordan made the most out of it and reaped the rewards. That Schumacher was reportedly impressed with the 1995 Ferrari 412T2 in testing doesn't say much, especially as it was very unreliable and would have made a championship fight difficult and it doen't mean anything for 1996, especially when that car would have needed major modifications.

It's not hating on Michael.

The rest of your post is creepy AF and I'd rather not go there.

What concerns the argument that pecking order changes are linked to significant regulation changes, I'd say big changes can happen even without these. Recall 2002 -> 2003. No major changes at least what concerns technical regulations, but seasons were like night and day.
