Ray Bill's Party is well worth coming to. You would have a Great time.
Next to the car are Gus Meyjes and Joe Schuitema. Gus had won the Street Parade in Elkhart Lake during the vintage weekend in the past with his Superformance GT 40.

I know it would be a great buzz, Jerry...

One of my favourite places in all of America.

I think it's a shame he parted with this one:

0605-01-billscurtis.jpg

But there's still plenty there to look at and the cars from the Babbitt collection are all interesting too.

Yesterday, I saw a tuned "Trabbie", one of the last ones ever built - reputedly bored out and hot-rodded up to 60 hp. A real road-going rocket, since these cars weigh next to nothing (they are made entirely of plastic and wishful thinking).

I saw a couple of Trabbies racing at Brands Hatch earlier this year. Whilst not exactly 'quick' (in the context of mixed much-modified-saloons-and-sports-car race) they were not embarrassingly slow either. I didn't have an opportunity to see what modifications they may have had.

That looks like quite a party, Jerry; with the biggest barbecue I've ever seen.

I love the Plymouth Superbird...

(Thinking of another recent thread, it's interesting to note that the Plymouth is both shorter and narrower - and has a considerably shorter wheelbase - than the current Mercedes F1 car!)

I've always assumed those two were more-or-less "badge engineering" versions of the same car... or am I doing them a disservice?

(The Dodge and the Plymouth, I mean - not the Merc F1!  Either way, none of those three would fit in my garage.)  :drunk:

I think you could get a 440 in the Dodge and a 426 in the 'Bird, *think* being the operative, but otherwise just badges.

We did/do a lot of that here, though not as much these days.

Not just a Hemi in that Plymouth...

A really fat Hemi, over 500 cubic inches isn't it, Jerry? I know you have to take notice when the exhaust cutouts are opened and the throttle put to the floor!

I wish that the Domino's car in post #20 was mine-- it actually is Cory Hoonhout's 86 Lola. They look similar with the same livery, but I suggested to Cory that he bring it over to show it off after his great restoration.  He used to work for Doug at Doug Shierson Racing. I saw Jerry E but didn't have a chance to talk other than in passing so I couldn't give him info on the car.
