Any chance the wind played more havoc with the RB15 than others?

Mercedes will be more annoyed about Bottas being ahead than anything, he'll give them nothing in the race, Hamiton needs to be ahead if they want to threaten the Ferrari's in any way.

Well, last time I checked Bottas has a new deal, maybe he can show some fight for once and beat a Ferrari instead of always Lewis doing the heavy lifting.

James Alison specialises in cars that are easy on the tyres and good at the end of stints ... but not the best in quali.

Ferrari are the favourites but this is not over .... this track is hard on the tyres.

Ambient temps due to rise until the green ... wouldn't be surprised to see track temp up in the mid 40s.

Its really nice to see a car being “unlocked” in the way the ferrari has been, shows big jumps can still happen with the right upgrade

Great to see Seb back on pole.
Pretty good from Bottas.
Really impressed by Sainz, the guy is really good. I was a bit upset he was removed from Renault but in the end it seems to have worked out the best for him.
Albon did quite well too.

He cant keep tyres well enough and race hard at the same time (esp in dirty air) .... and everyone knows this .... expect to see LH "overtake" him early in the race - maybe even on the first lap - if they are smart.

LH has a way of getting out of the dirty air under braking which helps him to stay close to the car in front and still keep the tyres fresh ... and amazingly VB has not learned this despite being his team mate for years now.

Mercedes toes will be curling that Bottas is ahead, they might as well pack up for Mexico as he’s going to ruin both his and Hamilton’s chances plodding around in p3

Mate... it's an easy 1-stop, as it has been in recent years. Pirelli brought its hardest tyres to this race. I wouldn't be surprised if you see teams do S/M.

Is that still good for Ferrari?

A lot has changed since early in the season.

So, how will Ferrari throw it away this week?

Pit stops I guess

I hear you .... but lets see how it plays out.

Not saying Merc will win but that it will, at least, get tense.

At least he still has his book of racing driver excuses.

I've used a few but never, never the fast wall one.

I think Merc has some bigger worries now.

Yeah and Seb's engine is also not in the best shape. It's Ferrari's race to throw away.

Only way Merc has a chance to win is if they undercut, and that only works if BOT can get between the 2 Ferraris.

Also, they could gamble again on another SC/VSC with the other car.

So...how many of those will make it

It will be very tight for Hulkenbergs Renault to be ready in time for race start. The leaking hydraulics line is inside the gearbox and difficult to reach. The suspension issue on Ricciardos car shouldn't be a big problem to fix in time.

Williams tries to build Kubica a new car (new chassis) for the race. That means it's a pitlane start - if they make it in time.

Magnussen destroyed the whole rear crash structure in the crash. His car also needs a new gearbox, which results in a 5-place grid penalty. But that doesn't make any difference, as the only car behind him (Kubica) has to start from pitlane anyway.

That was a great pole from Vettel, at the same level of the best Hamilton. Looking forward to watch the start.
