Voting begins today for the Autosport Forum 100% Unofficial Formula E Inspired Street Circuit Design Competition!

We have received 16 entries for the competition for layouts in cities all over the world. One week of voting now commences to take us through to the start of pre-season testing. Voting is set to end as the S6 FE cars roll out for pre-season testing on the morning of the 15th October after the final pre season Formula E test session on the 19th October

Many of the entries have very detailed descriptions (some of them unmissable) of the layouts, so do be sure to read through the original thread or click on the links under each entry to the original post to see more.

The voting system is based on the well established livery competition held each winter:

Voting Process
- Rank your three favourite circuits in order.
- The favourite receives three points, second favourite will receive two points and third will receive one point.
- You may not vote for your own entry
- Circuit design with the most points will be the winner
- A tie will be broken by the number of first places given (or seconds, or thirds…)

So, without further ado (and in alphabetical order of the cities) the entrants are…

It's a bit of a dilemma between picking what will race well (apparently) and a great setting.

I love the idea of reviving Imola into the international open-wheel spotlight - a great way to bring a historic and relevant venue back - and the track should race well, too.

1. Imola

Love the execution of San Sebastian and Lisbon, they look like they would race well. On pure setting, I gotta give it to San Sebastian, though.

2. San Sebastian

3. Lisbon

Special mention to Nice, I think the idea of alternating with Monaco is brilliant!  I also think Tokyo NEEDS a race!

Already have some more "off the wall" ideas for next year's contest, can't wait!!

After much thinking, working on many complex spreadsheets, communing with various gods and flipping a bank's worth of coins, my top 3 are:

1. Halifax

2. Stockholm

3. Tokyo

Thanks to all who took part. Your creations are a joy to behold.

I’ve pinned the thread so we hopefully get a bit more traffic while the voting is open. We haven’t even had all the entrants cast their votes.

I think I am going to go with:

1) Halifax

2) Imola

3) Newcastle

Halifax I think would just be a classic, raw street circuit which has plenty of challenge. Imola becuase I think it would be fun to see and the circuit was originally formed by linking public roads. And I'm saying Newcastle becasue the posts's 'Bob Varsha Commentary Breaks' were, to me, a thing of beauty.

A really, realy good set of entries though. My massive thanks to everyone who entered, I love them all.

Would it make more sense to extend the voting through the the end of FE testing rather than ending the moment that the interest generator of testing is beginning?

Yeah I think it probably would actually. We've already got one extra post-deadline vote, a few more can only be welcome!

I'll do a final count up after the last test session finishes this week.

We have a winner...

So with 16 entrants and 20 voters, we have a winner of the Inaugural and Unofficial 2019 FE Street Circuit Design Competition 2019.

I have counted the votes (which are public so can be checked for yourself if you fancy it) and so without further ado we have:

1st Place - The Stockholm ePrix by FrederikB (24 Points)
fKL06vk.jpg

Congratulations to our first winner, I will refer to the original prize offered in the opening thread of 'the everlasting honour of being called the inaugural winner of the Unofficial Formula E Street Circuit Design Competition! Not much else I’m afraid, other than also probably organising the second edition…'

I'm sure that will be suitably life changing!

Our other podium finishers were:

2nd Place - The San Sebastian ePrix by lonestarstaits (18 Points)

Track-Map4.png

3rd Place - The Gibralter ePrix by PayasYouRace (15 Points)

Map.png

The remaining entries in finishing order are:

4) Lisbon ePrix - Vielleicht

5) Tokyo ePrix - OneLapWonder

6) Halifax ePrix - Ben1445

=) Nice ePrix - GenJackRipper

7) Key West ePrix - maximillian

8) Imola - thegamer23

9) Honalulu - Luca Pacchiarini

=) London ePrix (Hyde Park 1) - absinthedude

10) Newcastle ePrix - Alan Lewis

11) Seattle ePrix - Ben1445

12) London ePrix (Hyde Park 2) - absinthedude

=)  Nottingham ePrix - Donkey

=) Toronto - Radoye

My personal massive thank you to everyone who entered and voted. Had the idea a while back and wasn't sure how it would be recieved. A few of you encouraged this into existence (you know who you are) and the rest is history. I think the quality of enties has been very high indeed and my only sadness is that the voting process doesn't really reflect that so well. I've said it a few times already that FE really is my favourite series in racing right now. It brings me so much enjoyment and it has been great to share that with others through this competiiton.

Cheers.

That was a lot of fun. I'll have to start thinking of a location for next year.

It's a no-brainer!  I foresee a near future where this contest becomes so popular that the winner actually gets their layout implemented as a real ePrix by Formula E as their prize!

Rather like Yossarian in Catch 22, I'm proud of playing no part at all in producing these great ideas, and of being too apathetic to vote. Great thread, though. I look forward to the next.
