Pretty car

The Chaparral F5000 car - based on the 1966 Don Gates (Chevrolet R&D) designed GS-III, an experimental single seater that GM hoped would be the basis for a Chaparral Indy car. In 1971 after Chaparral quit sports car racing, the project was resurrected as a F5000 car by Franz Weis, Jim Hall's mechanic, engine builder and test driver. Sadly, after just two races, culminating in a heavy crash at Lime Rock, which wrecked the chassis, Weis canned the project.

Your ASA isn't too shabby either. Winner of the '66 Le Mans in it's category if I'm not mistaken.

Here the same car on jacks during a repair in the same race:

Alpine-A110-61-9.jpg

Two Alpines at le Mans in the sixties.

First one is a 1965 streamlined low drag car, very much in the line of other French manufacturers of the time, like Charles Deutsch or Réné Bonnet. The car had a very tiny 1.000 cc engine, was driven by Robert Bouharde and Pierre Monneret and it did not finish the race.

Second one is a most standard 1.300 cc Berlinette of 1968, that you would easily imagine storming down the twisty Turini pass at the Monte Carlo rallye, instead of being driven flatout, lap after lap, at the long Hunaudières straight. Race must not have been easy for drivers Jacques Bourdon and Maurice Nussbaumer. They finished the race, but they were predictably DQD for insufficient distance.

You have a point, because it's debatable how the fractions of day should be taken into account, but I think most of the posts in this thread (nearly all) consider that we currently are in the day -55 in GMT time (this is, 54 days + a fraction of one day = 55 days). I think the simplest thing would be that we all adhere to that policy, as a convention.
