There is a reason for this question which I can't really go into just yet, but any information on the current whereabouts of ex-Lauda cars would be very much welcomed! Hopefully I can elaborate shortly.

This is what I am told so far; any blanks that can be filled in would be super....

Jon, I don't know how complete you aim to be but I notice some of the written-off cars mention the driver, and some don't. Those that tally with Niki's career might have him at the wheel but. presumably, not necessarily.

BRM for example.  BRM P160D/01 - Written off, British GP 1973.  Niki was there, driving for BRM, and presumably drove that chassis sometime in his career. But I guess that this isn't the car he was driving that day, despite his suffering damage at the first start. Is this Beltoise's car which was involved in the first lap pile-up?

BRM P160C/05 - Written off, Monaco GP 1974.  By now Niki, who presumably drove this BRM chassis at some time, was at Ferrari. Did JPB, Pesca or Migault have a big shunt, in practice perhaps? Can't be JPB in the race can it, because I have an image in my mind of his P201 tangling with Denny Hulme on the way up to Casino Square?

Hi John - perhaps I have over complicated things by mentioning what happened to chassis - not necessarily with Niki at the wheel. I have comprehensive chapter and verse on what chassis Niki raced and where; all I am trying to establish is what still survives and where it now resides. As our other correspondent mentions, he did indeed start in a Mini (which changed hands in Austria a few years ago but seems to have disappeared) and there's a long list of other machinery I could have included, but i was trying to look to the major stuff. Revised list below - anything that was written off is noted simply as such.

March 721/2 - Believed lost.

March 721X/1 - Sweden- who?

March 721G/2 - Converted to "731" for 1973 - still in that spec?

March 721G/4 - Written off.

BRM P160C/05 - Written off.

BRM P160D/01 - Written off.

BRM P160E/08 - UK- who?
BRM P160E/10 - Australia- who?

Ferrari 312B3/010 - Ernst Schuster, Germany
