The single-driver format is fine, it worked mind-blowingly well for Trans-Am for decades before other issues killed the series off. But the issue for me is that the market is saturated for GT3-class events, so unless this series pays a lot more money to the teams, I don't see why many would bother entering, especially if you're asking them to modify the cars in an expensive way.
I guess we'll see, but I remain very skeptical of the viability of the DTM going forward, in any format. As Payasyourace said, it's very hard to see what question the DTM answers. It used to be the German Touring Car championship, but hasn't been for nearly 20 years, and hasn't had proper touring cars involved for nearly 30.
Because the driver gets individual glory rather than as part of a crew....I reckon that very much gives this a USP among all the other GT3 series.
