Nah, sounds too much like Underdog.

With racing series losing fans
In parking lots with empty stands
And stewards eager to give bans,
A plea rings out across the land for INDYCAR! (INDYCAR!)
INDYCAR! (INDYCAR!)
Speed of lightning!
Roar of thunder!
Drivers from here to down under!
INDYCAR! (Ah-ah-ah!)
INDYCAR! INDYCAR!

Mr. Penske's reception at the Indiana Statehouse:

https://www.indycar....nske-Statehouse

Mark Miles, President and CEO of Penske Entertainment, said Penske has been full speed ahead since the deal was agreed to with handshakes.

“It’s incredibly exciting, Roger’s energy level, his attention to detail, his passion for make everything better is really contagious,” Miles said. “It’s a ton of work, and he is tireless. There’s no detail too small, but that’s what’s going to make the improvements so visible.

“We’re ready to go, and it’s a huge opportunity.”

Obviously you are wrong Maxi, see the Bob Varsha thread for my cancer strapped financial status and you'll know I'm not RP.

That's the dream, isn't it?  Who among us would turn down being RP for a day?  Shoot, probably even Ganassi and Andretti occasionally have the daydream . . .

Shorter Robin Miller's Mailbag.  Nothing of note today.  Even RM's getting grumpy with some of the questioning, including one writer who proposed doubling the length of the Indy 500 (!!!!), and another criticizing IndyCar's recent revamp of its restart procedures, which drew the reply from Miller: "But spending more than two minutes thinking or discussing this is a waste of 90 seconds."

Classic.

Indeed.

I seem to recall some NASCAR race I watched showed the trio in the booth talking about the heat, and when they zoomed out, they all had shorts on.

You see him that way if you’re there live.   :smoking:  Diffey is usually in some sort of performance sneaker or runners as the Megxits might call them.  The desk segments right before the start are shot a half hour or so before the race.  At least at the places I’ve seen.  All the packages (video highlights, recaps) are voiced in the time prior to the green flag.  If you listen to the TV IFB channel on the scanner you can hear them going through everything then calling the race.  It’s pretty entertaining.

There was a picture of him taken in that exact outfit during one of the first Indycar races he spent in the booth. I’d search for it but I’m pretty sure I’d be horrified at what I’d see with the query ‘Paul Tracy without pants’.

Afterburner, try

"Paul Tracy," "announcer," "shorts."

Much safer for work!

Meanwhile, nine weeks to go.

Hopefully, they are developing a substitute experience. IMHO, the helmet cam was the best way to see the dynamics of the track, attitude of the car, and the driving effort and inputs. Always one of my favorite parts of a broadcast.

Seeing this, am I the only one who thinks a F1 styled Halo would look just better on the DW chassis compared to the current aeroscreen?

I really wonder how the windscreen will hold up after a SC with rain. The slower speed doesn't clean the screen that well and with all cars near each other, it gets more dirty with oil and rubber sticky bits a lot faster.

I was thinking

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late

1.  Insight on why Alonso left McLaren?

2.  Why Hinchcliffe was happy to just take the money?

3.  And to think Arrow finds ESPN spreads objectionable . . .

4.  O'Ward:  Gil's wrong--this doesn't make me look any taller.

Askew:    This is the last time I'll be behind the tater this season.

These things really write themselves.

Re: Cockpit cooling

AT the test, DRR had Sage running with a helmet vent hose, something seen in sportscars to force air through the helmet. Presumably there's a fan unit stashed somewhere.

CORRECTION: ALL CARS/DRIVERS DID

So VeeKay the quickest by a mile. It doesn't say a lot with only three cars hitting the track, but it is good to see that he actually performed when asked.

Indeed. They're confident that rain itself will stream off and leave the screen clear, but I wonder what'll happen if someone ends up stuck behind a smoking engine, or if it's raining and they get a faceful of mud from an off-track excursion.

Still, this is Indycar. We've learned a thing or two about patience and realistic expectations over the last 20 years.
