"089" was not among the original 20 Evo RS200s, it's a later conversion by Ford to Evo spec. + RHD conversion.

A reply that I received from the owner of the RS200 at Rally Retro .....

There where a total of 4 RHD Evos made. The one you saw in Hobart would have been Chassis 153 which now resides in NZ ... But unfortunately .. there are two chassis numbered 153 in circulation , the other being in UK. The one we brought to rally retro is chassis 089. Twenty Evolutions were to be made originally but Ford themselves built a further 4 ..chassis's 020,089,161,182.. these are often referred to as E2 versions.. making them a bit rarer. The car ar Rally Retro was originally bought by myself from John Collins in Congleton UK who bought the car from Ford ( sale docket attached) . I bought the car from there back in 2009 so I am the second owner. It has a choice of 3 gearboxes to run as there is a fair spares package. Sequential 6 speed ( Quaife) or an Xtrac and a standard evo box ..both original . The 6 speed gives it fantastic performance and ease of use, but we can change boxes in around 30 minutes as they are front mounted. . Quaife built a small number of units both for road and pikes peak use as the owner of Quaife had an RS200... .. Trust this is of interest.

I imagine reversing isn't a strong point for RS200...

What is that numberplate?? Prefix is SA but I have never seen a South Oz plate like that.

With the Canberra plate on the Bond team Escort I do presume this pic is in Oz.

This was in Melbourne last weekend, Lee.    Earlier on this thread someone said this car belongs to the same South Australian who owns the Opel Manta.   Looking at the SA  'Ezyplates' site , it is a personalised plate- you can have up to seven characters with at least one letter.

I dare say the South Australian rego plate mimics the original UK registration for the car. GeoffR might be able to confirm?

F200 XUY is a valid British registration for a Ford vehicle from May 1989.  That car has not been taxed since 1990 though.  So I think this was the original UK registration for the RS200 and that somehow the owner has got a SA registration with the same number to maintain originality.

Sorry, I can't provide anything more other than what the current owner suppled. BRG's post above probably provides the explanation.
